My Fellow Minnesotans, 25 May 2014

It is with regret that I announce because of unreasonable and targeted last minute barriers
placed before my campaign at close of business Friday, May 23, at 14:41 CST via email
from the Republican Party of Minnesota (RPM), that I will not be participating in the
2014 Republican Party of Minnesota State Convention. I offered an alternative I felt was
fair and respectful, considering that I hadnt received an email that every other U.S.
Senate campaign received weeks ago due to it being sent to the wrong email address by
RPM. In that time, there have been numerous debates and other opportunities if I was
going to be collecting signatures that I wasnt able to take advantage of.

To take several weeks off of my time to complete their task, and only extend it hours for
us to meet their criteria, created an unfair burden that I refuse to accept in any way.
Essentially, even being able to participate as a legitimate candidate in the 2014
Republican Party of Minnesota State Convention later this week in Rochester, Minnesota,
would be an ongoing and dramatized issue of what delegate number am I at, or will he or
wont he make it. A sideshow.

Since its Memorial Day Weekend, I dont want to get into specifics and take away the
attention from where it aught to be; on those whove given the ultimate sacrifice for a
grateful nation. I will make a more detailed statement on Tuesday, May 27, 2014.
Additionally, I am releasing the letter that I sent to Chairman Keith S. Downey of the
Republican Party of Minnesota on Saturday, May 24, 2014, reiterating what I had stated
to Mr. David Thul on May 23, 2014, that I would be unwilling to subject myself and
campaign staff to such degrading requirements last minute, in the waning moments
before the convention starts, waiting in limbo for the final authorization from party
leadership.

I feel the endorsement process is oligarchic by nature, and counter to the values of a
Republic. I have stated numerous times to the delegates that I would not be abiding by
their endorsement, which makes the request to beg them for signatures even more
difficult. Nevertheless, I hope everyone traveling to Rochester has a safe journey to and
from the state convention. Even though I am not present at the convention, I can still be
voted for in the endorsement process, and am humbled by any votes that I will receive
from the delegation. Happy Memorial Day and Semper Fidelis.

Sincerely,

David J. Carlson
