Product Description

Novaris surge filters are designed for protection against
induced transient overvoltages caused by lightning and other
events on AC and DC power supply circuits.

Versions are available for voltage ratings up to 240V AC with
surge ratings to suit location categories A, B and C including
category C high exposure in accordance with AS1768 also
IEEE C62.41.

Operation

Multistage transient protection is utilized in every unit. Metal
oxide varistor surge arrester modules, as the first stage, absorb
the majority of the energy. These components are
continuously monitored for integrity with built in LED
indicators. For 40kA versions DINsafe surge diverters are
used. For versions up to 200kA, MULTIMOV surge diverters
with digital display of integrity are used. These surge arrester
modules are housed in rugged and safe metal cased and are
easily replaced should this be required.

The first stage is followed by a low pass LC filter which
further attenuates the let through voltage. The filter also
attenuates low level noise and harmonics.

The third stage consists of metal oxide varistor based surge
arrester modules. DINsafe surge diverters are used for all
models. These provide a final clamping circuit and protect
against impulses generated by the loads connected. This is
particularly important when multiple loads are connected.

In addition to the alarm indicators on each module a front
panel mounted mimic panel provides an instant indication of
the filter integrity. The mimic panel circuitry contains a lamp
test button and an external alarm is generated which allows for
remote monitoring. This is provided by a clean contact
either normally closed or normally open.
An optional surge counter is available. This provides a count
of surges diverted and has a sensitivity of 100A for an 8/20us
impulse.

Every filter is configured to suit all TN and TT power
distribution systems including TN-C-S (MEN).
