Grade 4/5 Sports Day Monday 17
th
February

The grade leaders of each house began the morning by firing up their teams with their house team
chants. Layla Al Hashimi leading Safinah came very well prepared with a poster and a superb chant
which the whole team joined in with! Then Isabella Barakat geared up her team Dana with a fantastic
cheer and this was then followed by Francis Akinosho for Marasi and Hamdan Al Hashimi for Rubaan. All
teams were fired up and ready to go! They completed their all-important warm up exercises led very
efficiently by the teachers (especially Mr Hickey for his quality dance warm up moves).

All groups tried their very best and performed well in all of the events. There was a Javelin event,
Hurdles, Relay race, Football Penalty Shoot-out, Shot Put, and a Skipping Challenge. During the events
the Grade 4s and 5s showed excellent team spirit and sportsmanship.

After the events were completed it was time for the sprint races. Well done to the following students
who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the final: Mattis, Sufyan, Mohammad, Nina, Kelly and Sophia
M of Grade 5 and Lucas, Stepan, Paul, Kiani, Leona, and Sofia of Grade 4.

A big shout out goes to the Grandfather of Hugo in Grade 4 who solely stepped up to the challenge of
the Dads race! Very brave! And to all the Mums who also took part in the Mums race well done to you
all! Finally it was the teachers who took to the race track, Mr Nolan leaving everyone for dust at the
finish line.

A good day was had by all and Rubaan narrowly clinched the victory, adding to their overall house point
total.

Pre K and KG1 Tuesday 18
th
February

The Pre Ks and KG1s had a super sports day. Led by the ever so responsible and grown-up Grade 5s, the
Pre Ks knew exactly what to do. The day started with the warm up all together where we stretched our
muscles and prepared for the morning ahead.

Each class then had a turn at all of the five different stations: Egg and spoon race, bean bag balance,
obstacle course, bean bag target throw, and jump challenge. There are certainly some budding
Olympians amongst the kindergarten kids as they ran, jumped , climbed and balanced their way through
the events. The Grade 5s were so supportive and encouraging of the little ones, it was so great to watch.

Then the running races followed. All children were super speedy and made their way to the finish line in
record time. There was also a fantastic display of sportsmanship by both the Dads and the Mums in the
parets rae. Ad after a it of oaig, ee all the teahers took to the start lie iludig Mr
Homden!

The morning finished with the medal ceremony in which all students received medals for their sporting
efforts.

KG2 and Grade 1 Wednesday 19
th
February

The KG2s and Grade 1s had a fantastic day of sports last Wednesday. There was much excitement in the
air from the very beginning of the day when all students arrived to school in their house t-shirts. The day
began with all children getting into mixed groups and walking to the field were all their activities were
set up. All groups went to their first station and began warming up. The teachers did a very good job of
leading the warm up exercises to the music! All children were warmed up and ready to go. There were 8
different stations consisting of hurdles, javelin, jumping challenge, relay, obstacle course, bean bag
target throw, sack race and an egg and spoon race. The children worked very hard and tried their best to
score as many points for their team as possible. After each activity, the teachers had to write down the
scores and send them to Ms. Jeffery at the results table. Ms. Jeffery spent the morning adding up all the

scores! There was a great atmosphere throughout the day and there were many parents supporting and
cheering on the teams.

The day ended with the running races and even the parents and teachers had a race! Well done to Laith,
Sultan, Brian, Dana, Rodah and Beesan for coming 1st. 2nd and 3rd respectively in the running races for
Grade 1. Congratulations also to Herkus, Mohammed, Khalifa, Kellen, Hanah and Zainab who also came
1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the KG2 running races.

It was such a fun day and everyone was exhausted by the end of it! Big congratulations to Marasi who
were the overall winners of the day.
