Give Jakarta a 5 hours of heavy rain, guess what youll get. Thats right, flood. Its like a vicious cycle that happens annually when the rain season strikes. No matter what problem solving policy government offers, its just not getting any better. We surely cant blame the government alone regarding this matter, its everybodys problem, so it is everybodys responsibility. My opinion about this problem is that to solve it, it has to start from unloosing knots of problems from one point. In this case, government should encourage governance (thus, stakeholders from various scope and sides) in policy process. I am a Public Administration Bachelor from The Gadjah Mada University, and my experience of taking an Environment Management Class gives me insight that environmental issues and policy process needs to be looked not from a sectoral approach, but looked from an integrated approach from all related sector. Therefore, i am looking forward to continue my study to The MS in Environmental Sciences and Policy, as it offers identification and implementation to complex environmental sustainability challenges. The competency gained will broaden my viewpoint and skills to fully understand how an environmental management and policy can be systematically and integrally manipulated in a complex stakeholder and situation to get the optimum desired goal. After finishing my programme, i will engage myself more actively in environmental themed audits in my current organization (BPK RI). With the current organizations position as the head of INTOSAIs Working Group of Environmental Audit (WGEA), there are wide range of opportunity that can be done, either its nationally or in a broader international scope. I am also open in the opportunity of policy formulation and/or implementation in other executive state positions. My long-term goal is to contribute in environmental issues in a global scope, either it is via The EU, UN, or International NGOs. I am especially interested whether if a good governance from stakeholders that are concerned about environmental issues can alter policy process in all sectors (government or private). With guidance from one of the programmes professor, Mr. Alexios Antypas, i can surely improve my skills in the related topic.
