Looking for an innovative professional development opportunity that will leave you with the tools and resources
to help your students take on a new attitude toward learning while accomplishing Michigans state standards and
the Common Core? We can show you how! The LEAGUE Michigan in partnership with the Max M. and Marjorie
S. Fisher Foundation is proud to present to you the 2014 Fisher Training Service-Learning Academy.

The Fisher Training Service-Learning Academy includes:
SCECHs or college credit available
$175 Project grant to be used in your classroom!
$175 Stipend
Hands on activities to teach you to use the service-learning curriculum
Learn how to build community partnerships
Over 1,600 lesson plans on service, service-learning, and philanthropy education coded to Michigans state
standards and the Common Core

Fisher Training Service-Learning Academy is a 3 day immersion experience where you will learn how to
implement service, service-learning, and philanthropy education curriculum in your classroom. Each and every
lesson plan in the curriculum was written by teachers for teachers to make it easy to include service, service-
learning, and philanthropy education in every subject you teach. At the Academy, well walk you through
planning a service-learning project by taking part in activities that serve the community in exactly the same way
your students will when you add this innovative teaching style to your repertoire. Through a series of experiences
youll learn how to use our over 1,600 lesson plans, which are aligned to Michigans state standards and the
Common Core.

Fisher Training Service-Learning Academy is more than just a one-time project. You will be helping to build a
complex service network that will be sustained through on-going partnerships throughout the community,
providing immediate relief that addresses social concerns through service-learning.

Fisher Training Service-Learning Academy not only provides an opportunity to earn SCECHs or college credit, but
promises to be a fun way to build on your already dynamic teaching style, helping you empower your students to
make a difference while they learn!

2014 Fisher Training Professional Development
The 2014 Fisher Training can provide participants with continuing education credit and/or be used for the
foundation to obtain college credit. Participants wishing to take advantage of this offer will be asked to choose
which option below is most suitable for their situation during the first day of training.
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS
SCECH Participants can receive State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECH) for attending this training.
SCECH are State Board-approved in-service, workshop, training, or conference credits that are used for the
renewal of selected certificates issued by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).
COLLEGE COURSE OPTIONS
Course (EDUC 240) This course is offered online through Kellogg Community College. It is a three credit hour
course and runs 6 weeks during the semester. This is the most preferable option for educators looking to get the
most out of their experience and gain valuable knowledge and insight into service-learning curriculum integration
into the classroom.
CREDIT HOUR COST
Below are the current per credit hour rates for classes at Kellogg Community College. These rates are subject to
change and will be updated accordingly.

Residents $99.50* (A RESIDENT of the College district is defined as a citizen of the United States whose legal
residence has been established within a Michigan city/township and one of the following school districts: Calhoun
County, Barry, Branch, Hillsdale, Kalamazoo, or St. Joseph)
Non-Residents $156.50* (A NON-RESIDENT of the College district is defined as a citizen of the United States
whose legal residence has been established within the state of Michigan, but not within the College district.)
