Howto calculate bank fees
Bank fees can be charged either on an ad valorem, tiered or flat-fee
basis. Ad valoremand tiered fees vary in accordance with the value
of the transaction, while flat fees remain constant regardless of the
transaction value.
Ad valorem
A typical example is a R650,00 cash deposit into a Nedbank Current
Account, which is charged at R5,00 plus R1,25 per R100,00 or
part thereof.
The fee is calculated as follows:
R5,00 irrespective of value
R8,75 (R1,25 x 7)
The fee is therefore R13,75.
Tiered fee
Another example is a Nedbank Current Accountholder issuing a
cheque, which is charged according to a tiered structure as follows:
R1,00 to R499,00: R16,00
R500,00 to R1 499,00: R26,00
R1 500,00 and more: R36,00
Flat fee
Flat fees do not vary with the value of the transaction. For example,
Ke Yona Account tillpoint cash withdrawals are charged at R2,00 per
withdrawal regardless of the withdrawal amount.
