21-7 Overview
In this required 20 week semester course, seventh graders will develop their ability to utilie
technology !or learning in the 21
st
"entury primarily through online modules o! career
e#ploration$ In addition, some health topics such as %&I'(I), alcohol and other drugs,
puberty and reproduction will be covered$ *!ter success!ully completing the tasks in this
course, students will+
demonstrate technological literacy pro!iciency
build an ,ducational -evelopment .lan /,-.0 by applying the "areer -evelopment
process
demonstrate basic tools to incorporate online learning e#periences$
&he lesson modules are presented in the conte#t o! career e#ploration and developing skills !or
!uture success$ -uring the lessons, students will+
learn and practice appropriate, responsible, and sa!e technology and Internet use
develop technology-based research skills
think critically about career choices
learn how to make in!ormed decisions about !uture career choices
communicate orally and in writing
create realistic goals and educational plans

apply a variety o! technology tools and resources to the tasks /including word
processor, spreadsheet and chart, database, online graphing utility, online
collaborative tools, search engines, career e#ploration so!tware, digital cameras

1rades are earned primarily through pro2ects, both group and individual, and authentic
uses o! the material taught$
1rades are based on certain skills learned throughout the course, such as+
3"s /collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity0

5or 21-7 to be success!ul, it is important !or the students to have the proper technology$
,very student in class will have access to a 6indows based laptop, a handheld video
recorder, wireless internet and more$ %tudents will be held to the -istrict &echnology 7se
.olicy$
6e also see the value in allowing personal technology in class$ %tudents who wish to
complete assignments using their own technology /such as tablets, laptops, etc$0 will be
encouraged to do so$ (owever, it must be noted that students are 100% responsible for
their personal items. Huron Valley Schools will not be held responsible for personal
technology that is damaged or stolen. It will be on the student to make sure their
technology is properly locked up and away when not in use during 21-7$
