eateniscalledapreyandtheoneeatingisthepredator.Ifthepredatordoesn'tgetitspreythanit
willdie,thatswhyitdoeswhateverisnecessarytoeattheprey.Someofthethingsthepredator
willdoinordertogetitspreyarespeedup,camouflage(tohidewhileapproachingtheprey),a
goodsenseofsmell,sight,orhearing(tofindtheprey)etc.(NECSI,2014)Likewisetheprey
doeswhateveritcantopreventbeingeatenbythepredator.Someofthethingthatthepreywill
dotopreventthatarespeed,camouflage(tohidefromthepredator),agoodsenseofsmell,
sight,orhearing(todetectthepredator)etc.(necsi,2014)Forexamplethepolarbear
camouflageswiththesnowtoavoidbeingnoticedasitapproachestheseal,andthesealpupis
whitetoavoidbeingeatenbythepolarbear.Thepredatorandthepreyprogresstogether.
Amutualisticrelationshipiswhentwoorganismofdifferentspeciesworktogether,each
benefitingfromtherelationship.Organismsinthistypeofrelationshipprogresstogetheraswell.
Theyarepartofeachothersenvironment,soastheyadaptedtotheirenvironment,they"made
useof"eachotherinawaythatbenefitedboth.Anexampleofamutualisticrelationshipisabee
andaflower.Beesflytomanydifferentkindofflowersinordertogettheirfood.Whenbeesland
inaflowertheygathernectarintheirhearybodies,andwhentheylandinthenextflower,some
ofthepollenfromthefirstrubsoffpollinatingtheplant.(Unknown,2014)Thisprocessbenefits
boththebeeandtheflowerbecausethebeegetsitsfood,andtheflowersgettoreproduce.
Aparasiticrelationshipisoneinwhichoneorganism,theparasite,livesoffanotherorganism
whichisthehost,harmingitandpossiblycausingdeath.Theparasitesdontalwaysintendtokill
thehost,thisisbecauseitreliesonthehostsbodyandbodyfunctions,suchasdigestionsor
bloodcirculations,inordertolive.Anexampleofaparasiteisatapeworm.Tapewormsare
segmentedflatwormsthatattachthemselvestotheinsidesoftheintestinesofanimalssuchas
cows,pigs,andhumans.Theygetfoodbyeatingthehost'spartlydigestedfood,deprivingthe
hostofnutrients.(necsi,2014)Parasitesanditshostsdeveloptogether.Theparasiteadaptsto
itsenvironmentbylivinginandusingthehostinwaysthatharmit.Hostsalsohavemany
strategiesthattheyusetogetridoforprotectingthemselvesfromparasites.Scratchingaway
ticksandbuildingasymbioticrelationshipwithotherorganismthathelpstogetridofthe
parasitesaresomeofthestrategiestheymayuse.
Coevolutionistheactthatanimalsbytimelearntointeractwithoneanother.Many
relationshipsareformedthroughcoevolutions.Theserelationshipsarecalledsymbiotic
relationships,andsomeofthemarepredatorpreyrelationships,mutualisticrelationships,and
parasiticrelationships.
