Peugeot 406 engine warning light (auto diagnostics) - this light will appear when the ignition is turned on
but will go out when the engine is turned on. If the engine light stays on after the engine has started, it
indicates a fault within the engine and should be checked out as soon as possible. To diagnose the fault
yourself you can use the Peugeot Planet 2000 kit supplied by ourselves. The kit will read, diagnose &
reset all diagnostic fault codes so the engine light can be turned off. Sometimes you may need to buy a

Peugeot 406 AIRBAG warning light - the airbag warning light on your Peugeot 406 will light up when the
ignition is turned on, but will go out when the engine is started. If the airbag light stays illuminated after
the engine start, it indicates that there is a fault within the airbag module. You can diagnose & fix this
yourself by using the Peugeot Planer 2000 kit. The kit will communicate with the airbag module and tell
you exactly where the probemis, more often that not it will be a loose or faulty connection that needs to
be reconnected. Once the fault has been repaired, the PP2000 kit can clear the airbag codes which will
turn off the Peugeot 406 airbag light quickly.
Peugeot 406 ABS warning light - an ABS light (Anti Lock Braking System) on your dashboard indicates a
fault within the braking system. It does not mean that the brakes are no longer working, but they will not
be working in the way they were designed to work. You can diagnose the ABS fault yourself & fix it by

the passenger airbag has been de-activated. If this light is illuminated but steady, it means there is no

passenger airbag. You can take it to the dealer to fix or you can do it yourself by using the Peugeot
Planet 2000 kit which will read & clear airbag codes & dash lights on your 406.

Peugeot 406 glow plugs (pre heating) warning light - used in diesel vehicles only. This will illuminate
when your ingition is turned on. The glow plug warning light will stay illuminated until it is safe for you to
start the engine. During the time that the light is illuminated the engine is warming up so ensure a safe
start and will generally take a little longer when it is cold outside.
Peugeot 406 handbrake or brake fluid warning light - this comes on each time the ignition is switched
on.
It indicates either:

that the handbrake is on or has not been released correctly,

and when coupled with the central (STOP) warning light:

an excessive drop in the brake fluid level (if the light remains on even with the
handbrake released),

lit at the same time as the ABS warning light, it indicates a malfunction of the
electronic brake force distribution system.
You can diagnose the problemwith the Peugeot Planet 2000 kit.
Peugeot 406 oil warning light - the oil can warning light will illuminate briefly on startup then go out after
a few seconds. If the light stays on or re appears when driving it indicates that your oil level could be
too low. You should use the dip stick and top up accordingly.
Peugeot 406 coolant warning light - this will appear on start up and go out after a few seconds. If the
light stays on or re appears when driving it indicates that the engine cooling systemis not working
correctly. You should stop immediately and allow time for the engine to cool. When the engine of your
Peugeot 406 is cool check the coolant levels and top up accordingly. When you top up check for any
leaks under the vehicle, as sometimes in older vehicles it is common for coolant pipes or expansion
tanks to crack which will lead to loss of coolant. If this happens you should NOT drive any further until
the problemis fixed, any further movement could destroy the engine.
Peugeot 406 low fuel warning light - Fill up.
Peugeot 406 battery warning light. Incidates that the battery is not being charged and should be looked
at asap. It will prbably mean that the battery needs to be changed, however this is not always the case

problem.
