12. How do I create a new configuration rule?

Markups >> Configuration Rules >> Edit

13. How many options can a configuration rule have?

You can add as many exclusive or inclusive options as needed.

14. Who can create configuration rules?

Only EPL/PLEs can create configuration rules. All users will be able to
view the configuration rules.
15. How long does it take for a released markup to become part of the
standard F&O?

The released markup will immediately become part of the standard

F&O.
16. How do I view markups that have been requested, approved or
released?

You can search for markups by: part number, final ECO number, ECO
number, ECR number, date duration, product line, and type.
Reports >> Search markups

17. Are engineers notified when a markup is approved or released?

No. Engineers are only notified when his or her markup has been sent
back.
18. Who will set the default configuration of the standard eF&O?

EPL/PLEs will set the default configuration for their product line in the
eF&O tool.
Application Engineers
11. Is the technical portion of the PDS going to change?

Yes. The technical information on the PDS will be more granular than
before.
Requisition Engineering
11. Can I search markups by part number, ECO, ECR and requestor?

Yes, you can search for markups by part#, final ECO#, ECO#, ECR#,
date duration, product line and type.
Reports >> Search markups
12. If I have an existing BOM in Oracle and need to determine what
changes have been made to the standard eF&O since the BOM's
release, what should I do?

You can use the Compare BOMs functionality in the tool to compare
the Oracle BOM with a project F&O from the tool. You would need to
have the existing Oracle BOM on your computer in the .xls format.
Features and Options >> Generate project BOM >> Save as project
Reports >> Compare BOMs
13. If I create a project-specific part, will the children of the original
part be cloned in DWB?

No, the part itself will be created in DWB, but someone will need to
manually attach the children to that part. Part attributes should also be
reviewed for accuracy.
14. What attributes will be included in a new project-specific part that I
create?
4
You will have to add the following tool attributes to create the new part
in the eF&O tool: part number, quantity, description, drawing format,
and phantom buy code.
15. What happens if I add a project specific part that already exists in
Oracle, but I make a typo on the part number or description?

If you check the box for the eF&O tool to create a new part in DWB,
then an incorrect part will be made per what you typed. However, if
you do not select the option for the eF&O tool to create a new part in
DWB, then a notification will come up informing the user that an error
has occurred. That should be your trigger to check for typos and
correct them.
16. Why can't Requisition engineers make markups to the standard
eF&O?

Keeping eF&O markups within the development team will help

minimize confusion and repeat markups.
17. What process should I follow to have a markup submitted?

If a requisition engineer wants a markup to be submitted, he or she

should contact the Development Technical Leader.
18. What if a part is released in Oracle but not yet connected to the
Block BOM? Will I be able to view it on the eF&O?

Yes, parts are available as soon as they are released.

19. How does the BOM comparison tool work?

The BOM comparison tool allows the user to compare a project specific
F&) to an existing Oracle BOM .xls file. The tool will highlight all similar
parts. This will allow the user to see all inconsistent parts.
Reports >> Compare BOMs
110. What is the nomenclature for a project specific part number?

The user should follow appropriate processes already in place for

determining project specific part number nomenclature.
111. Can I make kits project specific?

Yes.
5
112. What is the BOM tree?

The BOM tree includes a "parent" assembly part and all of its "child"
parts underneath it.
113. Can I create multiple revisions of my BOM?

Yes. If you generate a project BOM for the first time it will be Rev. 0 the
next revision will be Rev. 1, etc.
14. How is the revision control for the eF&O done?
The master eF&O does not track revisions. However, markups to the
master eF&O are kept in the archive and searchable by part#, final
ECO#, ECO#, ECR#, date duration, product line and type.
15. How do you check if your BOM is right?
Always check that the appropriate selections were made per your PDS.
Use the BOM comparison feature for two-way comparison between the
project specific eF&O and an existing project Oracle BOM file.
116. Who is provided read/write access to modify BOMs?

All users within a security group (Requisition Engineering) will have the
ability to read and write project BOMs even if they did not create the
project BOM. The tool will track who was the last person to make
changes and save them along with the date and time the file was
saved.
117. Who uploads the final BOM in DWB?
Requisition engineers will upload the BOM into DWB.
118. What is the recommended date to start creating your BOM in the
system?

Follow the project schedule for when the F&O is due. That is typically 1
month prior to BOM release.
119. How will Mechanical and Electrical Engineers interact to generate
a Project BOM? Is there going to be a password to avoid mistakes
where ME selects an EE option or vice versa?
6
This process will have to be decided among the Requisition team. ME
and EE counterparts should work together to follow the best process.
There will not be a password for the project specific eF&Os.
120. Is there going to be a protection to avoid any other user modifies
the BOM?

Only those in your security group (Requisition Engineering) can modify

project BOMs. Additionally, user name, date and time are recorded any
time a change is made to the project BOM.
121. How can I use this tool the most effectively?

The best process would be to create the preliminary BOM using the
eF&O tool that you will upload into DWB. This would be just like
receiving a BOM from the BOM team after submitting your F&O per the
previous process. After the BOM is created in DWB, the eF&O tool is
disconnected, and you need to perform checks and modifications as
you would have before. The only check that the tool will eliminate is
the manual check between the project specific F&O and the BOM in
Oracle if there is one already existing. The file would output 2 Excel
files: (1) Project F&O highlighting common parts from the BOM file you
provided and (2) BOM file highlighting common parts from the latest
project F&O generated.
122. If a BOM is created and a couple of days after a new markup is
implemented on the F&O, and the BOM has not been released, how do
you proceed?

You should implement the change per the markup via an ECO or other
process that the BOM team follows for modifying preliminary BOMs in
DWB.
123. Will there be revisions of F&Os and BOMs?

There will be revisions of the project F&Os, but there will not be
revisions of BOMs. You cannot substitute a new BOM for the one that is
already there in DWB/Oracle.
24. Is it possible to save changes before BOM release and make
modifications?
Yes. When the user creates a project eF&O before generating the
project BOM in DWB, he or she can save it in the tool with a project
number and go back to it later to finish. However, new markups
implemented on the standard will not be included. In order to include
any new markups, a new project eF&O revision would have to be
created.
125. What is going to be the cycle time for markup approval from the
EPL/PLE?
7
A target cycle time has not been determined. We should get a
commitment from the EPL team.
126. Will the ECO process change?

The ECO process will be the same as before. The only thing changing is
the creation of the project specific F&O and initial preliminary BOM in
DWB.
127. If a project specific part is needed or a new part is not available in
the system, should I wait for its creation to create a project BOM?

No. The tool can generate the new part for you, but you must attach
the children and make adjustments to the attributes once the BOM is
created in DWB.
28. Will ECOs be automatically created by the eF&O tool or do we still
follow the
current process where the BOM team creates the ECOs for the project
BOM
creation?
The initial project BOM will be uploaded via the BOM loader tool.
Project specific part numbers will also be uploaded via the BOM loader
tool.
Once the initial project BOM is created, then you would need to
generate the
ECO’s via the existing processes for making changes.
29. Is there going to be an eF&O tool reference document?
Yes. The user manual, FAQ, and online help will be accessible through
the homepage of the tool.
30. When generating a project BOM, what happens if I accidently check
on of the
parts?
Nothing will happen if you accidently select a part. You would only
want to select the part if you are editing it.
