Approaches to learning (ATL)

ATL represents general and subject-specific learning skills that you will develop and apply during the five years of the
IB programme and beyond. The focus of the ATL is on learning and finding out about yourselves as learners so that
you can develop learning skills.

Community and Service

This area of interaction allows you to consider how you engage with your immediate family, classmates and friends in
the outside world as a member of these communities. Through different activities, you can learn about your place
within these communities and be motivated to act in a new context.


Your reflection on Community and service

Create an overview of your commitment to community service so far this year. Include a description of
the activities in which you are involved. Explain how these experiences have affected you and impacted
others.
I received 3 hours of community service over my summer because I spent over an hour helping
little kids swim, I didnt have to I wasnt getting paid but I found it really fun to do. I even taught
your daughter sir, at riverside pool. I really enjoyed spending my days theyre helping them and I
grew a really huge bond with the kids I taught. I might join back again just for the kids I taught. I
was a huge help to the pool because they needed helpers to teach the boys and girls how to swim
and I really enjoyed doing so. I want to continue that just so I can see my kids again I always taught
the same ones, callder bethaney and Ariana. The first class I had with bethaney she wouldnt even
touch the water she would hold to me with all her life she was so scared and at the end of the
whole season she was swimming without me by her side and she would also swim on her back. She
really loved me and her dad really liked me as well and we grew a huge bond together.







































Health and Social Education

This area of interaction delves into the range of human issues that exists in human societies, such as social structures,
relationships and health. During the five years of the programme, this AOI will help you to find out how these issues
affect societies, communities and individuals, including yourself. Through the area of health and social education, you
can identify and develop skills that will enable you to function as effective member of societies, as well as learning
about how you are changing and how to make informed decisions that may relate to your welfare.

Reflection on this AOI

Which health and social issues affect my age group? How were they approached so far this year in the
school?

The things that affect my age group is that us kids have no social skills because were always on our
phones talking threw texts but when it comes to talking to that person in real life and not threw the
screen we dont even know how to say hi. Thats what our generation is lacking sounds so stupid but its
true we dont know how to talk to one another. The thing that helps us create better social skills in school
is having class discussions or even having group project and working in groups














Which other issue(s) should be addressed in this school for your group age? Why do you think so?
We lack also exercise. My parents as kids always were outside playing outside with friends because they
had nothing to do they had no tv or computers only had the outdoors to entertain themselves and us are
always inside watching tv or on the computer so we lack activities our schools can address more school
activities


















Environments

This area of interaction considers how human interact with the world at large and the parts we play in our
environments. It extends into areas beyond human issues and asks students to examine the interrelationships of
different environments. Both immediate classroom environments and global environments are to be considered.

Human ingenuity

This AOI deals with the way in which human minds have influenced the world, for example, the way we are, think,
interact with each other, create, find solutions to and cause problems, transform ideas and rationalize thought. It
also considers the consequences of human thought and action.

What have I created this year in school that I am the most proud of? Why is it so?

Im most proud of my hard work that I have done this year I worked really hard to get my marks and to
stay in the Ibo program .





























PART B: Your pieces of work

How this chosen piece of work relate to the Areas of Interaction?



Well our class all worked together to create this dance and practiced it for such a long period of time
and we all took different culture dances and mashed them all together and by spending all those
weeks practicing we grew a bond








What do you think you have learned while working on this assignment?


We learned about all the special dances at all different cultures use in Hawaii its the hula and it
was so cool learning all the different dances around the world







Why are you proud of this piece of work?

I did really well and Im proud of myself for performing in front of the school and
not just a class













PART C: Learner profile

The aim of the MYP programme is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common

The IB learner profile is a list of attributes that you should develop and work on during the five years of the

Reflection on the IB learner profile

Chose the two attributes that you feel that you developed the best so far this year. Explain why you
picked these two attributes and how you demonstrated them so far this year.





Balanced: because going to a whole new school is a huge change coming out from elementary with having
only 2 classes to juggle now I have 7 which made me have to juggle all my projects and all my homework
efficiently.

Risk taker: I was approaching an unfamiliar school it complete new life style of education










Chose two attributes that you feel that you need to develop. Explain why you picked these two attributes
and how you will work on them.

Thinker: I didnt like solving problems I like structure questions only.

Caring because Im very sarcastic but people took it literally and I would make a comment or joke and
people would get offended by it
