G.SRT.6, G.SRT.7, and G.SRT.8
Essential Questions
How do you find distances of a triangle? How do you find missing angle and side values using applications?
Understandings
Students will understand that multiple strategies for right triangles can be applied to find missing side or angle values. Students will understand how to identify parts of a right triangle. Students will understand trigonometric functions for right triangles.
Students will know that angles add to 180 in a triangle. Students will know that the Pythagorean Theorem can find values of right triangles. Students will know sine, cosine, or tangent to find missing side or angles. Students will be able to use special right triangles and trigonometric functions to find missing values of right triangles. Students will be able to create situations applying chapter 8 skills.

Assessment Evidence
Performance Tasks: This chapter 8 review assignment is a performance task to demonstrate understanding of the chapter. It prepares students for the formal assessment.
Self Assessments: Final chapter 8 test. Other Evidence: Homework and formal assessment help determine student understanding.
Learning Plan
Inquiry Hook: What is the best route for travel? The situation of competing against peers to get somewhere first.
Activity Procedure: Students are given four tasks to complete in order to demonstrate understanding of chapter 8 skills. See the document below for the student task sheet.
Reflection Methods: Students create their own problems and show work to demonstrate reflection.
Materials
Facilities: Classroom
Equipment (non-tech): paper and pencil, notes from chapter 8. Equipment (tech): Chromebook with Google Maps, google Due to diagrams and time, students wrote answers. In future lessons, I will probably have them use Google Docs. search, and Google Drive
