Flow-X

series
flow computers

Versatile concept
Next Generation technology

The Flow-X series of flow computers
offer a sophisticated concept in
which advanced measurement
technology and fast digital signal
processing are combined with state-
of-the-art processing power,
versatile data communication and
high capacity storage, resulting in
the ideal platform for even the most
demanding flow measurement
applications.

The Flow-X series are designed for
reliability in high-end gas- and liquid
applications, and includes all relevant
API, AGA, ISO, IP and many other
measurement standards, in a versatile,
familiar, intuitive and free configurable
software environment.

The Flow-X series are based on powerful
single stream modules which are
combined in a number of different
casings, for different application types.

A Flow-X/M stream module comprises an
impressive number of inputs, outputs,
communication interfaces and other
hardware for real-time digital and analog
signal processing for one metering
stream, with cycle times up to 250ms.

Flexibility with various Enclosures
Flow-X/M stream modules are used in a
specific enclosure, ranging from a single
stream DIN-rail mountable device with
screw terminals for field connections,
to a convenient multi-stream panel
mounted flow computer with a 7 inch
large color touch-screen for more
demanding applications. The 19 inch
rack enclosure for up to 8 stream
modules allows compact cabinet design,
ideal for off-shore platforms or other
space limited systems.

Supported Products
The Flow-X series support but are not
limited to crude oils, natural gas, NGLs,
LPGs, refined products, special gases,
and steam. Either liquid or gas may be
combined in multi-stream applications.

Connectivity
Free-configurable digital communication
interfacing is implemented for ultrasonic
flow meters, gas chromatographs, HART
transmitters and other metering equip-
ment utilizing various communication
protocols for flexible usage no
firmware programming is required.

Design, Production & Assembly
Modern, fully automated production &
assembly lines and automated calibration
procedures are used to ensure top
quality of the electronic boards.

All models have passed the highest
degree of quality testing, both during the
design phase as well as during
production, including HALT and HASS
testing; assembly is completed for each
model with a significant burn-in period.

Features further include:
True Level A pulse integrity verifi-
cation utilizing the on-board
programmable hardware (FPGA).
No totalizer rollovers through high
speed 64-bit counters.
High temperature range (0-60C)
for modules while retaining highest
accuracy of 0.008% FS.
No DIP-switches, no jumpers, no
fuses.
Prover support with uni-directional,
bi-directional, compact prover,
master meter, with dual
chronometry and pulse interpolation
with 64-bit high-speed counters.
PID & valve control, prove control,
batch control, and sampler control.
Full support for redundancy built-in,
for power supply, Ethernet, and in
the software.
Metrology approvals
1
include MID,
OIML R-117, and EN-12405. EMC:
EN 61326-1997 industrial locations,
and EN 55011.

Configuration software
For novice and expert users

To match the large variety of
requirements for flow computer
functionality in todays international
markets, the Flow-X series are
accompanied with a superb
configuration tool based on a totally
new concept, in which distinct levels
of expertise for users are
recognized, ranging from novice
users right through demanding
expert level engineers.

At the basic level, a user can simply
configure the flow computer by setting
vital parameters such as meter type and
Modbus address, whereas an expert user
is enabled by the software to develop a
dedicated application utilizing the user-
friendly and familiar spreadsheet
oriented development environment.

Flow Computer Configuration
Calculations, displays, reports, alarms,
Modbus or HART communication
interfaces, and much more can be freely
defined when needed from a rich
library of functions and tools.

Template applications are fully user-
definable. Predefined configurations
from a directory of templates can be
used to easily match existing flow
computer applications.

Ready-to-run application templates
are available for liquid and gas with
(MID) approval from the Dutch
Metrology Institute NMi.
Testing and Debugging
Transparent local and remote on-line and
off-line application verification and
debugging is available on detailed level
utilizing the application spreadsheet.
Report and display layouts, including the
local Flow-X/M LCD display, as well as
the touch-screen interface can be easily
simulated, tested & previewed.

Integration & Connectivity
Versatile and free configurable communi-
cation protocols include Modbus Master &
Slave, RTU & ASCII, Modbus/TCP Client
& Server, HART Master, UNIFORM, ASCII
and other protocols for maximum
connectivity.

Easy integration is ensured even with
complex SCADA / HMI systems. The
Flow-X series software has a natural fit
with eXLerate

2003 metering
supervisory software.
