Steps In Producing An Attractive Sketch
Have you ever asked how some sketchers produce an attractive sketch?
This is a way for you to know how they do it. And you can even do it too. Here
are some steps to produce an attractive sketch. The steps are draw simple lines
or shapes, soft sketch, and hard sketch.
The first step is draw simple lines or shapes to make sure that the object
is in the right place or where you want it to be. When drawing those lines and
shapes, make sure it resembles the object that u wanted to draw and where you
want the object to be. If you draw a giraffe, just draw a simple cylinder as a guide
for the neck and is it in the middle of the paper, or the bottom? Its up to you.
Maybe draw some circle or an oval shape for the giraffes face. The important
thing is that, the lines and shapes must be smooth and thin so that it can easily
rub off or not be seen, because the lines is just a guide for you to sketch the real
thing. However, it is okay if the simple lines and shapes are not perfect, because
its not the complete sketch yet. You will start to sketch from the lines and shapes
that you have drawn.
The second step is soft sketch, draw the original picture according to the
lines and shape thats done. Sketch the original picture by thickening the lines so
that the shape forms the original image that you wanted. After drawing the
cylinder for the giraffes neck, start to thicken the lines and draw the face and so
on. Moreover, add in the details of the object so that it doesnt look simple or 2D
based. Example giraffe has some spots on them, so add in those spots but do
not shade them yet. Because you need to remove some of the excess lines so
that if u you remove after shading, then it will be hard to rub it off and you have to
shade again. You can draw some circles first as starters then you can shape in
the spots, later. And add in the background image so it doesnt look like a simple
drawing example, the skies, trees, or even a small river if you choose a
landscape sketch. Or make a background of your own so it the back doesnt look
dull and empty.
Finally, hard sketch, where the final drawing of the sketch completes and
makes it look nice, attractive, realistic, and even more use. Before do any
shading, rub of any excess lines so that the sketch would not look dirty. Then,
start to darken the lines and make the shape look more realistic. Giraffe has hairs
on the back of the whole neck, so add in those extra lines for the hair so looks
more real and must be parallel lines. After that, shade where is needed so looks
more outstanding. How you shade is in that from dark parts, to lighter parts.
Divide them in to parts so its easy for you to shade in which is lighter and which
is darker. Example, the shadows, and some dark areas that are not in the suns
reach. In addition, the final detail for the background and shading for the
background. Then your sketch is complete with attractive sight for anyone to
watch.
Whether these steps of draw simple lines and shapes, soft sketch, and
hard sketch is easy or hard for you? These are the process of some professional
sketches follow. But some of them are just passionate and talented for sketching.
