Riya Sen
Riya Sen fascinated by jewellery designing
Gorgeous Riya Sen has developed a fascination for jewellery designing.
Ironically, Riya has never been interested in jewellery and she would often get
bored whenever her mama Moon Moon Sen took her along to the jewelers for shoppin
g. Even after she began her movie career, Riya never wore much jewellery except
on very special occasions.
But recently while shooting with fashion photographer Suresh Natarajan for a jew
ellery campaign, Riya got very fascinated with designs.
Although she never had much inclination towards it, Riya decided to begin jewell
ery designing.
And her main inspiration is said to be her grandmother Suchitra Sens antique jewe
llery, which is still with their family.
Riya says she will refer to her dadis jewellery while creating her own designs, b
ut that doesnt mean that she will copy designs. She also adds that most of her de
signs will be of diamond jewellery, but quite reasonably priced.
She plans to begin with simple trinkets like earrings, pendants and bracelets. L
ater on she will move on to wedding jewellery.
Whenever Riya is not shooting for a movie nowadays, she sits on her laptop worki
ng on the designs.
Reports have it that Riya plans to launch her own line in association with Agni
Jewellery later this year.

network Channel 4 received over a record-breaking 40,000 complaints, and the co

Shetty was kissed several times in jest on the cheek by Richard Gere during an A
IDS-awareness event. The pair had appeared at a press conference in New Delhi as
part of a campaign to preach safe sex to truck drivers in India and promotion o
f AIDS awareness. The kiss prompted protesters, allegedly members of the right-w
ing Hindu nationalist group Shiv Sena, to beat burning effigies of Gere with sti
cks. Others set fire to glamour shots of Shetty. People demanded an apology from
her and threatened to ban her movies in the state. Shiv Sena leaders denied inv
olvement in the protests, but Shiv Sena member of parliament Sanjay Raut observe
d that that protests are "just a manifestation of the anger of the general publi
c" and that there was "nothing wrong with expressing contempt at such an act"
Similar protests broke out in other cities, including Varanasi, Hinduism's holie
st city, and in the northern town of Meerut, where crowds of hundreds of thousan
ds chanted "Down with Shilpa Shetty!" Star News Office was also attacked. The pr
otests did not take any violent turn and the situation was quickly brought under
control with some activists being detained.
Shetty responded to these protests by saying "I understand this (kissing) is his
(Gere's) culture, not ours. But this was not such a big thing or so obscene for
people to overreact in such a manner. I understand people's sentiments, but I d
on't want a foreigner to take bad memories from here."
On April 26, 2007 an Indian court in Rajasthan issued a warrant for Shetty and G

just want every Indian to be extremely proud that I'm in here". As for her part
icipation, she stated: "I have zero expectations. The only thing I really hope t
o keep is my self-respect and my dignity." Sister Shamita told the Times of Indi
a that this "is the boldest decision Shilpa has taken hitherto." The Scotsman re
ported that PETA backed Shetty to win the contest and urged British viewers to v
ote for her.
During her time, Shetty instructed fellow housemates Carole Malone and Ken Russe
ll in meditation, flirted with Dirk Benedict but tempers started to fray by Day
7 as a clique formed in the house disapproving of Shilpa's presence. Following a
worldwide controversy that publicised her as a target of racist bullying (see b
elow) within the house, Shetty won the contest after gaining 63% of the public v
ote and described the experience as "incredible and overwhelming". She further t
hanked the public for "a fantastic opportunity to make my country proud".

Biography
Aishwarya Rai's striking beauty might make her seem an obvious fit as a model, b
ut the truth is that India's 1994 Miss World winner originally took up modeling
as a part-time job to get her through school. She was studying to be an architec
t, but due to her obvious talent on-stage and in front of the camera, -- most no
tably in a wildly popular Pepsi campaign -- the starlet began accepting the movi
e offers that had been pouring in. Rai began her reign as Bollywood's favorite l
eading lady in the film Iruvar, following it up that same year with ...Aur Pyaar
Ho Gaya. They both earned her critical praise and the latter brought her a Best
Female Debutante Award. More awards would follow, including Best Actress by Fil
mfare and Zee Cine for 2000s Straight from the Heart. As the actress put more an
d more films under her belt, her position as India's darling cemented. Her role
in 2002's Devdas was especially auspicious; the movie was the most successful in
Bollywood history and received a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival
-- the first Bollywood film to receive such an honor. The next year found Rai ma
king still more headway for Bollywood when she became the first Indian member of
the grand jury at Cannes.
By 2004, Rai had appeared in well over 20 films in just seven years, and it was
finally time for her to star in her first English-language film. The Hollywood/
Bollywood crossover hit Bride and Prejudice reworked Jane Austen's classic love
story Pride and Prejudice with the Bollywood film style, bringing together Easte
rn and Western actors, as well as themes. The film proved to be yet another succ
essful example in Rai's history of helping to bring India's culture and film int
o the world spotlight, delighting fans all over the globe. Having sampled Hollyw
ood, Rai was now ready to make a serious foray into American films. She signed o
n to star with Colin Firth and Ben Kingsley in 2007's historical epic The Last L
egion as well as French director Coline Serreau's remake of her 2001 film Chaos,
which would cast Rai alongside Meryl Streep.

Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik Roshan Biography
On January 14 2000 Hrithik Roshan entered a cinema to attend the premiere of his
first film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000). When he came in some people recognised
him but not much happened. When the film was over there was a stampede and mass
hysteria broke out. He got mobbed. The police had to come and escort him out of
the cinema and away from a crowd of thousands. It was the first day of Hrithikm
ania in India, which held the country in its grip for many months to come.
Was the victim of a defamation campaign in late december 2000. Rumors were sprea
d that he stated in an interview that he hates Nepal and its people. This immedi
ately led to riots in Nepal, cinemas showing his films were attacked, posters bu
rnt, Hindi movies banned in general for some days and several people shot dead b
y the police. The events made headlines all over the world and the governments o
f Indian and Nepal got involved as well. Anti Indian/Hrithik sentiment died down
quickly when it became clear that the alleged statements were a fabrication and
the rumors were spread by a malicious third party, possibly the Bollywood mafia
, still pissed about not getting the foreign rights to Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (20
00). Nepal born actress Manisha Koirala played an important role in getting the
news to the people in Nepal that the accusations were false.
In January 2001 Hrithik Roshan was again involved in a controversy. This time ab
out a poster created and used by the Democratic Alliance in South Africa in Nove
mber 2000 to woo Indian voters. The poster used his face without permission. The
ANC reacted angrily and threatened to ban his films.
Fact
Wanted to quit the film business altogether after his father Rakesh Roshan was s
hot at and wounded by hitmen sent by the Bollywood mafia, but changed his mind.
Was catapulted overnight to instant superstardom with debut hit film Kaho Naa...
Pyaar Hai (2000).
Has two thumbs on his right hand that are grown together.
Has been called the Indian Sylvester Stallone, Brad Pitt and Michael Jackson rol
led into one person.
Made stubbles fashionable in India.
The country wide hysteria following the release of his first film Kaho Naa... Py
aar Hai (2000) is known as hrithikmania and is unprecedented.
