Introduction
The Institute of Accountancy Arusha is a parastatal academic institution offering undergraduate and
postgraduate training courses. It is established by the Institute of Accountancy Act No.1 of 1990 with
its headquarters at Njiro Hill, Arusha City. The Institute wishes to recruit a number of suitable,
motivated, potential, and capable human resources from the market on an unspecified time and
pensionable terms.

SENIOR LECTURER 1 post (Accounting & Finance)

Scope of the
position and its
expected outputs:
Holder of the position is responsible for all assigned academic duties.
The outputs in this position are expected in the quality, efficient and
effective dissemination of skills and knowledge in a competence based
mode with big and value adding results with integrity and honesty.

Position
relationships:
Reports to the respective Head of Department
Supervises: NIL

Key duties and
responsibilities:
Teach students up to NTA level 9 (Masters Degree).
Guide and supervise students in building up their practical
and research projects.
Prepare learning resources and design training exercises for
students.
Conduct consultancy and community services.
Undertake individual research and participates in
scientific/academic congregations.
Supervise and guide post-graduate students.
Prepare teaching manuals simulations and case studies for
training.
Coach junior teaching staff.
Assume managerial leadership roles e.g. coordinate
academic programmes or major research projects and
consultancy.
Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.


Title of position: DEAN OF STUDENTS 1 Post

Scope of the
position and its
expected
outputs:
Holder of this position is responsible for all assigned duties in the
general and specific implementation of the Institutes students
welfare administration. The outputs of this position are expected in
the quality, efficient and effective execution of students welfare
administration with value added and the smooth running of the
almanac.

Position
relationships:
Reports to the Deputy Rector Planning, Finance and
Administration;
Supervises Students Welfare Officers.

Key duties and
responsibilities:
To head Student Welfare Services;
To serve as Institutes ambassador to alumni, parents,
students, neighbours, community leaders
and professional colleagues;
To oversee provision of counseling services to students;
To liaise with appropriate officers of the Institute and advice
students in respect to personal problems affecting them;
To liaise with the Deputy Rector Academics and/or such other
officers of the Institute as may be appropriate in attending
students problems;
To resolve students disciplinary matters in accordance with
IAAs students Disciplinary Code and Procedures.

The holder of this position must have the following:

Holder of Masters Degree in Education, Sociology, Home Economics,

Holder of Doctorate (PhD) Degree in relevant field who is eligible for
registration as technical teacher with a working experience in
teaching, research and consultancy of at least three years in
lectureship position or equivalent in a related or allied institution and
has published at least three peer reviewed papers. Or
Holder of PhD Degree in relevant field who is eligible for registration
as technical teacher and has a proven applicable working experience
in research and consultancy of at least 10 years in the industry and
have publishes at least five consultancy/ research reports of the
academic and professional appreciable depth in the relevant field. Or
Holder of Master Degree in relevant field who is eligible for
registration as technical teacher and has a proven applicable working
experience in research and consultancy of at least 20 years in the
industry and have published at least ten consultancy/research
reports of the academic and professional appreciable depth in the
relevant field. Or
Holder of Doctorial Degree in relevant field, who has a proven
applicable working experience of 10 years and have published at
least five consultancy/research reports of the academic and
professional appreciable depth in the relevant field.
Must have a maximum age of 40 years

with nine years working experience in teaching, students
administration or working in a similar area of specialization, five of
which must be in a senior managerial position. Must have minimum
40 years of age.

By recruitment of holders of Doctorate (PhD) Degree in relevant field
who is eligible for registration as a technical teacher. Or
Registered technical teacher, holder of Master Degree/PhD in relevant
field who is working in similar position in related or allied institution. Or
Holder of Masters Degree in relevant field, who has a proven
applicable working experience preferably in research/consultancy of at
least five consultancy/research reports of the academic and
professional appreciable depth in the relevant field. Must have a

management of the Institutes financial resources pursuant to IAA
Regulations and manuals with big and value adding results with

responsibilities:
To prepare draft final file accounts and submit the same to
the supervisor;
To carry out accounting functions in accordance with financial
regulations;
To control capital and recurrent expenditure;
To post subsidiary register for debtors , creditors and fixed
assets;
To prepare bank and final accounts reconciliation;

The holder of this position must have the following:
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Accounting with either a full professional
accountancy qualification CPA (T) or its equivalent a recognized
University/Institution with five years experience in similar position.

Supervises: Artisans and Attendants

responsibilities:
To implement specific routine functions regarding
rehabilitation and maintaining the Institutes buildings;
To supervise implementation of building and premises
maintenance plans for the estate;
To participate in maintaining, overhauling and re-installing of
premises and other structures;
To participate in planning and supervision of Estates routine
civil works;
To prepare work plans;
To assist in determining and preparation of bills of quantities
for technical work requirements
To assist in preparing budget proposal for Estates section

Holder of a FIV/VI academic certificate and a Diploma or Full

Reports to the Human Resources and Administrative Officer

Key duties and
responsibilities:
To receive and manage the front desk visitors;
To keep visitors register book;
To receive and channel incoming telephone calls and internal
telephone requests;
To operate and maintain Switchboard;
To direct office visitors to officers in question;
To keep telephone call register, maintain external telephone
directory and report defective telephone facilities;
Person
specification:
The holder of this position must have the following:
Holder of FIV/VI academic certificate with a pass in English and
Kiswahili who has undergone the Telephone Operator/ Receptionist
course at a recognised Institute and must have three years working
experience in similar position.
