Organizational background
WaveInfoTech Solutions is one of the leading software houses, located in Abu Dhabi UAE. It
was developed in 2012 and since then has excelled in many fields like IT consulting, Enterprise
Application Services, Infrastructure Management and Quality Management Services. It has
around 3000 employees and a network located in two continents; Asia and Europe.

The purposes of functional areas
The objective of functional areas in any software house is that they ensure about all the activities
that are being carried out must be effective and time bound. This is very essential and crucial for
any organization if it wants to achieve specific goals and objectives.

To understand the business process we visited the departments mentioned in above figure.
(Figure#2)

We first came across the:

Human Resource Department
The human resources management team strategically manages the people as business resources in
any organization or software house.

Following are the tasks carried by Human Resource Department

Recruiting and hiring of employees
Provision of related trainings to employees
Providing guidance to employees

So the HR professionals are consultant who advice managers on many issues related to employees
and how they help the organization achieve its goals. This view about HR is stated on (Small
Business, n.d).

When we interviewed HR Professionals we came across about their tasks as mentioned above.

Then we came across:


Sales Department and Marketing Department
(All about effective marketing tips, n.d) stated that; Sales Departments and Marketing
Departments are the major ones as they mainly contribute to the companys business. Sales
department bring the business for any organization where as marketing department takes cares the
customer needs and the sales departments constraints.

Enterprise Applications
WaveInfoTech uses many Enterprise Applications to make its business more attractive and
effective. The applications are listed below:

CRM
ERP
SCM
KMS

Customer relationship management
In todays world the business prime focus is to retain the already existing customers and
expanding the business by attracting new customer. Customer relationship management can help
in this regard very well.
Customer relationship management (CRM) enables the company to know more about the needs of
their customers. It is more like a business strategy. This aspect of CRM is being mentioned by
(INFOENTERPRENEURS, n.d).

CRM solutions fall into the four broad categories. But WaveInfoTech used the following solution

Outsourced solutions
WaveInfoTech uses the web based CRM solutions for its business. This approach is ideal as it
does not need to have in-house skills and it is easy to get implemented.

We had been taught about CRM in our software engineering class but by practically using it we
came to know about all its features and it benefited us a lot.

Enterprise resource planning
(CIO, n.d) stated; There is the wide usage of Enterprise resource planning in WaveInfoTech as
integrates the data of WaveInfoTech and processes it into a single database system, The ERP
systems consists of hardware and software components and there is a process documentation too.
According to
( NETSUITE, 2001) Aspects covered by ERP systems are listed below:
An ERP system may cover manufacturing
Quality control
Manufacturing engineering
Parts ordering
Accounts payable or human resources.

Supply Chain Management
The usage of Supply chain Management has been increased since the last few years. Now the
business has shifted its focus from manufacturing to customer value. Companies are majorly
concerned about producing high quality products and delivering them on time and at correct
location. Meeting this challenge entails the need of supply chain management (SCM).
Supply chain management (SCM) is a business and technology discipline that refers to the
following ways
Coordinating the activities involved in purchasing,
Designing,
Building and
Selling a product.

It used information technology to create a cross functional inter-enterprise (involving more than
one organization) system called SCM information systems.

As WaveInfoTech is a multidisciplinary company so the above all mentioned technologies helps
it promote its business.

I T I nfrastructure
WaveInfoTech majorly focuses on:
Virtualization
WaveInfoTech prefers Virtualization because it makes possible to run multiple operating systems
and multiple applications on the same server at the same time

Oracle
Oracle is used by WaveInfoTech as it handles lage application data.

Networks Used At WaveI nfoTech
LAN - Local Area Network
WaveInfoTech uses LAN within its organization. LAN is preferred because it connects devices
over a shorter distance so it covers the whole office of WaveInfoTech. In TCP/IP networking, a
LAN is often but not always implemented as a single IP subnet. LAN is also preferred because it
is owned, controlled and managed by single organization so you can assure about the security of
your systems. They also use certain connectivity technologies as Ethernet and Token Ring.

Security Related Problems and Their Solutions
The biggest software security issues are in development approaches
Largest security problems occur due to the SQL injection, buffer overflow and cross site scripting
vulnerabilities.

Solution
Helping code meet security needs
To avoid above mentioned problems; developers have to understand how data passes through an
application and then he should apply some validations and anticipation policies to avoid security
related issues.
