be in town and will be making a
stop to see just our Big Friend
Little Friend group. He has a
message for all of us. We will
picnic/grill and play games at
the park as well.

July 2014
It is with a heavy heart that I write my last newsletter for
Big Friend Little Friend.
I have accepted a new position at University of SD.
My last day at BFLF will be J uly 3rd.
I chose the picture above with all the children saying
"thank you", as an image that speaks of all the THANK
YOU'S I have received over the last 9 years. They
are immeasurable. But every single one I have heard from
my youth, my mentor and my board members, have
meant so much to me. While part of this program's
mission is to a make a difference in a child's life, each of
you have made a difference in my life.
We have been on some wild adventures (camping, flying
airplanes, Washington Pavillion and Kayaking), I have also
been humbled by the many obstacles and achievements
accomplished by my families, and their mentors. You are
all truly awe inspiring. I will miss everyone.

All to often we underestimate the power of a touch,
a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest
compliment, or the smallest act of caring. All of which
have the potential to a turn life around ~ Dr. Felice

July FF Adventure June 30th
Les Norman
Monday June 30, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 7:00
PM Former Major League Baseball player Les Norman
will deliver an engaging, challenging message that
inspires others to dig deep to find their potential. Les was
born into poverty and endured child abuse and overcame
unsurmountable odds to reach the pinnacle of his
profession.
After our wonderful visit with Les Norman, we will
picnic and play dodge ball.
I look forward to a great evening at the park and playing
with laughter.
I know this is only a week and half after our last event.
But this WILL BE OUR JULY FUN FUNCTION.
We will be at Riverside Picnic Shelter #2. This is the
shelter closest to the ball diamond and the playground
equipment.

Kayaking
Adventure
We had a super fun night
out on Lake Yankton
Kayaking. The weather
was great, participation
wonderful, and great BBQ.
Thank you to Jarret Bies
and Rick LaBrie for their
help with bringing enough
Kayaks and all around
help, the event would not
have been possible without
them. Also thank you to
Park Ranger Dungan
Smith and his help. They
taught safety first, then all
helpers were in Kayaks
floating around making
sure all were safe.

"PASS IT ON" BASEBALL CLINIC
JULY 1, 9AM TO NOON
RIVERSIDE BALL PARK,
YANKTON, SD
Former Royals players pass along their love and knowledge of the game of baseball. Teaching
hitting, infield & outfield play, pitching,catching and base running. The Royals
emphasize "Enjoy The Game,"and invite parents and coaches to the field during the clinic.
