TRUE THE VOTE STATEMENT ON TODAYS MS SENATE RUNOFF

Voters rights group encourages participation and alertness across Mississippi today

LAUREL, MS -- June 24, 2014: True the Vote (TTV), the nation's leading voters rights and election
integrity organization, today released a statement on the contentious primary runoff election between U.S.
Senator Thad Cochran and State Senator Chris McDaniel.
"We've seen a national political circus parade into the Magnolia State during the run up to this election,
all trying to effect the decision Mississippians will make at the polls today, True the
Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht said. True the Vote encourages all applicable voters to exercise
their right to participate in a free and fair election. We encourage all voters, and everyone involved in
today's electoral process, to honor state election laws and report wrongdoing to appropriate Mississippi
officials.
Engelbrecht reminded potentially discouraged Mississippi voters that they are the only political interest
group that can address election integrity concerns in the future.

"This election cycle serves as an excellent example for the need to recognize where the true power of the
franchise lies, Engelbrecht added. It is the voters not the Parties, PACs or politicians -- with the
power to affect change in how we elect our leaders. I encourage those frustrated with the process to learn
from this experience and demand improvement. Only an electorate with an interest in improving election
integrity for all eligible voters can bring about such change.
