Team Ready for Fall PVAAS Teacher Specific Reporting Act 48 Submission 5 (five and a half) Act 48 Hours Date: (insert date) Time: (insert time) 9:00am 3:30pm Presenters: Jennifer Ross, PVAAS Statewide Team for PDE Joan Perekupka, PVAAS Statewide Team for PDE Cindy Goldsworthy, Evidence to Action Session Description: This session is designed to prepare a leadership team to present and use PVAAS teacher specific reporting with staff. The first half of the day will focus on training LEA/district staff (principals and teachers), including strategies for responding to common questions and activities that reinforce learning about PVAAS. Participants will learn about the supplementary resources and reference materials available for a deeper understanding of the PVAAS methodologies. The second half of the day will be devoted to having one-on-one conversations with teachers about their PVAAS teacher specific reports as part of the Educator Effectiveness System.
Please note: To gain the most benefit from this session, participants should be familiar with the concept of how PVAAS measures growth. To fully maximize time in this full-day session, we ask each participant to come prepared by viewing the following PVAAS Virtual Learning Modules (found under the Concept of Growth category on the PVAAS website): Introduction to Measuring Academic Growth (13 minutes) Connections to Value-Added Reporting (30 minutes)
Districts are encouraged to send a four (4) member LEA/district administrative team (could include Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Principal, Assistant Principal, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Director of Professional Development, Director of Special Education/Pupil Services, subject area supervisor).
Outcomes: Participants will be able to: 1. Analyze a teachers growth results and identify patterns/trends within and across grades/subjects/courses 2. Use custom reports to evaluate growth results for a teachers subgroup of students 3. Strategically respond to teachers questions to be answered through an increased understanding of appropriate interpretation and use of PVAAS teacher specific 2
reporting and the resources which provide the most relevant information to address concerns and issues 4. Identify and discuss specific reports with teachers which provide critical information relative teachers growth results within and across grades/subjects/courses 5. Identify and discuss specific reports with teachers which help teachers to assess students levels of risk 6. Describe and use the new PVAAS teacher specific reporting to set goals for improvement at the teacher and school levels 7. Develop and initiate a plan/process to apply the information gleaned in this session.

PVAAS Teacher Specific Reporting: Professional Growth, Not Gotcha Act 48 Submission 3 (three) Act 48 Hours Date: (insert date) Time: (insert time) 8:30-11:30AM or 12:30-3:30PM Presenters: Jennifer Ross, PVAAS Statewide Team Joan Perekupka, PVAAS Statewide Team Cindy Goldsworthy, Evidence to Action Session Description: This session is designed to provide teachers with a review of the concept of growth as measured by PVAAS, and introduce the PVAAS teacher specific reports that are a direct result of the PVAAS roster verification process. Teachers will develop a foundational understanding as to how PVAAS measures growth for PVAAS teacher specific reporting. The session will include a complete review of the PVAAS teacher specific value-added report, as well as available diagnostic reporting at the teacher specific level. Teachers will have the opportunity to review their own PVAAS teacher specific reporting if they choose, or use a demo site if they prefer to review their reports privately.
These sessions are designed for teachers who receive PVAAS teacher specific reporting. LEAs/districts are encouraged to send teams, including teachers AND a district or school administrator as questions may arise regarding district/school practice or policy.
Please note: PVAAS teacher specific reporting will NOT be used on a teachers final rating form until a PVAAS 3-year rolling average is available. The first PVAAS 3-year rolling average will be available after SY2015-16.
