Backpack Blowout
As we enter into the summer season and actvites with our families
and friends, its not too early to consider a donaton of school sup-
plies for the Backpack Blowout.

The generosity of Saguaro Christan Church in the past has benefted
our neighborhood Steele School in giving lower income and disad-
vantaged students help with items necessary to succeed.

The supplies you provide will help put them on a pathway to a bright-
er future.

A container for your donatons will be placed in the narthex.

Supplies will be distributed to Steele School in late July.

Please support this worthwhile efort!

The Places God Goes Vacaton Bible School 2014
The week of Vacaton Bible School was magical! Not only were we transported to a Seuss-like place of rhyme, excitement, and
laughter, but we were able to share Gods word. Through song, stories, crafs, snacks, games, and prayer we all experienced the
joy of doing His work. Adults and children alike had a great week. Here are some of the highlights.

Each day began with a wonderful skit, done in Dr. Seuss style. Gemma Krebs wrote and conducted each part. The backdrop to
her skits were artully drawn and painted by Audrey Gusick, with help from Gemma Krebs and Brian Coates. It really set the stage
for your imaginaton. Afer the skit, Bethany Keenan and Stephanie Sager led us in music and song. They created the order of
songs along with accompanying actons, and got everyone up and moving.
The curriculum each day was carried out by the talented teachers and helpers in each classroom. The two preschool classes en-
joyed stories, books, coloring, paintng at the easel, outside tme with balls, crafs, and singing. They were the most actve and
energetc group! The K-3
rd
graders had fun with games, like experiencing what its like to be blind. They enjoyed making star jars
that hold candles and other crafs. And they learned Bible stories and discovered the places God goes. We expanded VBS to in-
clude 4
th
-8
th
graders because some older children had pre-registered. This class included our church kids and several from the
community. They read scriptures, watched videos and had interestng, thoughtul discussions. We were very excited to have our
church kids be a part of VBS and see them having so much fun. They made some cool crafs such as suncatchers and water botle
holders.
We cant forget our fabulous snack preparers. Each day they worked hard to prepare the snack which related to the daily theme.
Not only did they feed many hungry children but also interacted with each group about the days lesson. Children were able to
make things with their food like the burning bush, made from grapes (rocks), pretzel stcks (branches), and cheese triangles
(fre).
Each day ended with everyone gathered in the Sanctuary for songs, announcements, and a prayer. We were truly blessed to
have 43 children make our church campus come alive for 5 days with their laughter and happiness.

The last month has been a wash of hectc scheduling, picking up new habits, squelching old ones, and shielding myself against
the infamous Arizona sun. Besides large amounts of sunscreen and a water botle permanently atached to my hand, the best
aid for setling in quickly has been the welcome I have received at Saguaro. I told a friend last week that I loved it here the
people are great and the weather only tries to kill me in the afernoon.

I am looking forward not only to the month of July but my entre tme here. I cant wait to get started, to get to know you
beter, to begin helping Saguaro be what it has set out to be: a building block for Gods vision of the world. I see so much poten-
tal in Saguaro, because youve already shown me what a wonderful group of believers you are.

So, as I contemplate the stretch of a scorching summer, Ill remember most of all the comment Ive received from many of you
that ranks up there with If youre thirsty, its too late:

Welcome! Were so glad youre here!

Albertsons Community Partner Cards
Do you shop at Albertsons for your weekly groceries?
The company ofers a Community Partner Card to non-
profts to assist with their programs. They return 1%
of Saguaros sales per quarter to help with our Pastoral
Care Ministry. This adds up to a signifcant amount of
funds over tme.

Cards (at no cost to you) are available on the table in
the Ramada area. Pick one up and begin helping this
valuable ministry of our church.
Quilt Winner!
It is with pleasure that we announce that Hazel
Coatsworth was the winner of the 2014 quilt
rafe. The Quilters realized $260 toward the
expenses to contnue in this Ministry and, afer
setng aside a few quilts for new babies in the
church, the quilts will be distributed to Hospi-
tals and Shelters in the name of Saguaro Chris-
tan Church.
Thank Yous
A special thanks to Owen and our church fami-
ly for their prayers, concerns, cards, and calls
at the tme of our loss of our son, Kent. Also
for their healing prayers for Evas sur-
gery. They were of much comfort at a tme
when we needed it most. It shows the true
love of Jesus. God bless to all.
