L&Ts frst 1 MW Project
L&Ts frst grid-connected solar photovoltaic power system in association with
Sharp Corporation (Japan) on the rooftop of its buildings at L&T campus in
Chennai is the largest such power system in operation since 2009 in India.
Moreover, the campus has been developed as the center for research and
development.
The project involved installation and commissioning of PV systems on eight
buildings in a phased manner. In the frst phase 406 kW was successfully
commissioned. This grid connected photo voltaic system involves highly
effcient mono-crystalline PV module and grid connected inverters.
The unique wave type mounting structure adopted for this project with
east-west wave confguration yields ~6% more power output when compared
to the conventional south facing layout. In addition, it has a negligible
maintenance cost with a life cycle of 25 years.
