DAY 1 Warm up :What is a Superhero?Do you like superheroes?Who is your favourite superhero?Have you seen any movies,read any comic books? Power point presentation / Provide examples of superheroes through a montage of films and students recall known characters from Super Hero movies. Objectives: To assess prior knowledge related to super heroes. To learn target vocabulary related to super heroes and describe physical characteristics. To use learned vocabulary to create a superhero caracter. To review/learn appearance characteristics such as :tall,short,big,small to describe superheroes. To practice target phrases to describe superhroes using the superheroes presented. To create a superhero of their own or choose a superhero and describe appearance . Games : o Guess the superhero .The teacher gives clues about the superhero and the students guess.
o Pass the ball game.The objective of the game is to review what they have just learned .How to play :Split the class into two teams .Play Superman song and write new vocabulary on the word .When the music stops ,the teacher shows the students a card and they run as fast as they can an slap the word (first team to slap gets a point). Hero cut outs.The students are given stripes of superheroes and they need to move around the classroom to find all the parts of their hero.
DAY 2 Warm up: We know what a superhero is now.What makes a Super Hero special? Power point presentation that provides target vocabulary for he /she can/cant and the expression asas (as fast as lightning ,as strong as a rock) Objectives: To assess prior knowledge related to super heroes and super powers. To learn target vcabulary related to super heroes and super powers. To use learned vocabulary to to describe physical abilities (super powers). To learn unknown action verbs describing super powers. To draw a super hero performing a super power and describe the superpowert the super hero has /doesnt have. Games: o Superhero card game.Each super hero card has strenght ,speed and intelligence.The children are given 3 cards each and they walk around the room to chalenge their friends.(e.g.Hulk is stronger than Batman).Whoever has the better card keeps both of them.Their goa lis to try and find as many cards as possible. Memory game with super hero cards.
DAY 3 Warm up : We now know what a superhero looks like and what his superpower is. What is a superheros job? Power point presentation that provides target vocabulary for what a super hero does ,using key phrases like :He /She saves/defeats /fights ,helps.
Objectives: To assess prior knowledge related to super heroes and what a super hero does. To use action verbs to describe what a super hero does. To create a simple story that tells what their super heroes do. To answer questions for beginning a simple story :Who are the super heroes?, Who is the villain? What is the problem? What do the super heroes save or help? Who do the super heroes rescue? How do the super heroes fight ? Games: o Charades type game where students act out super hero actions and their team members guess. Bingo Super heroes.
DAY 4 Warm up : What is a comic? (story with pictures) Power point presentation that teaches parts of the comics and vocabulary words related to action words in comics such as hit ,kick,punch
Objectives: To learn how to make a comic using their super heroes and all the vocabulary they have learned in previous lessons. To practice dialogues related to super heroes. To create a comic in groups. Games: o Emergencies and superheroes missions. Super hero role-play mask.
DAY 5 :Real life superheroes Warm Up : There are heroes all around us doing ordinary things in extraordinary ways every day. Objectives: Tocompare real life superheroes (firefighters,doctors,police officers,nurse,lifeguard....) with fictional heroes (Superman, Batman...) To write a short classroom poem: A............. Is a hero, Who......... e.g.: A tree planter Is a hero, Who makes a home for birds. To encourage children to look for heroes who are nearby. Make a You are my hero card and give it to your parents,your sister/brother. To put together the pieces of a banner about real life superheroes. Games:Recycling games we didnt have time to play or games the children enjoyed.
