The giant panda is a bear native to central-western and south western China. It is easily recognized by its large, distinctive black patches around the eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. Though it belongs to the order carnivore the panda's diet is 99%bamboo. Pandas in the wild will occasionally eat other grasses, wild or even meat in the form of small animals. In captivity they may receive honey, eggs, fish, and oranges. The giant panda lives in a few mountain ranges in central China. Due to farming, and other development, the panda has been driven out of the areas where it once lived. Though the panda is often assumed to be docile, it has been known to attack humans, presumably out of irritation rather than predation. UNIT 2: WRITE A STORY (130 words) It was our first day of the summer holidays. Samuel, Linda and I were very excited because we were going to spend a weekend in the mountains without our parents for first time. Everything was perfect. The sun was shining and we put our tent next to a wonderful lake. Then, we started to climb the mountain which was behind us. As we were climbing big black clouds appeared but when we reached the top, it started to rain heavily. While we were running down, Sam fell off and lost his bag. However, I could find it and Linda helped him to stand up. While it was still raining we cure his wound and then the three of us went down the mountain to be safe in our tent. UNIT 4: A FILM REVIEW (94 words) Is there a connection between intelligent and madness? The film Proof deals with this interesting question. The film is about a crazy mathematician, played by Anthony Hopkins, and Gwyneth Paltrow plays the role of his loving daughter. After the mathematicians death, a math student discovers that some notebooks offer proof of important math theories. There is only one problem- no one knows who really wrote the notebooks. I think the film, has got an exciting plot, and you cant lose with Hopkins and Paltrow in the leading roles. You should definitely see this film. UNIT 5: REPORT OF AN EVENT (123 words) It was 8 pm when I got to the art gallery. My intention was to enter but the guard at the door didnt allow me to do it, so I asked him some questions. The good man told me that the robbery took place when he was finishing his evening round. He heard the alarm and he started running down from the second floor, where he was, to the ground floor. When he got there, the robbers had disappeared. Then, he looked around and found out that they had stolen five of their most famous masterpieces. Although he claimed that he couldnt imagine who the robbers were, he also believed that they had to have a key, because the back door wasnt broken. UNIT 6: DESCRIPTION OF A PROCESS (120 words) My mum isnt always at home in the evenings, so I am the one who have to make dinner for me. Since my mum those days doesnt have time to do the shopping, the first thing I do is going to the supermarket after school and buy some meat or fish, depending on what we have had for lunch at school that day, and vegetables. We always try to keep a balance diet, thats why we are healthy. Then, I start cooking. I take many cautions with fire because I dont want to get burnt or burn the house. After that, I clean up the mess and tidy the kitchen. As a result of this, Im a good cook. UNIT 7: FOR AND AGAINS ESSAY (121 words) Most teenagers love violent video games. There are many of that kind in the market and they are very popular among teenagers. But are they good for teenagers? On one hand, it is true that violent games do not educate teenagers or make them better people. Guns and other weapons are the prizes for killing one or another and the winner is the one who have more of these. On the other hand, some people say that these games are just that. The deaths are not real and it is just a way to have fun. In my opinion, these sorts of games should not be sold to teenagers. They should watch TV news and see how real violence is. UNIT 8: WRITING AN E-MAIL (136 words) Hi John! How are you going on? Im fine. Guess what! As I passed all my exams with As my mum has given me a great present: IM GOING TO NEW YORK.
