In Sept 25, 2007 a 26-year-old single mother surnamed Kwok

was sentenced to jail for four years by the judge of the High
Court after she was convicted of child negligence of her three
sons aged between three to six. The case revealed that
Kwok’s three sons were battered and seriously malnourished
by her for years. As a result, all three boys were suffered from
developmental delays, both physically and mentally, with the
youngest one even suffered from cerebrum paralysis.

Although Kwok asked for leniency of sentencing from the judge

by revealing her tragic childhood, that she was abandoned by
her mother when she was one, and she was ill-treated by her
father, and she was also dumped by all three fathers of her
sons, the judge was not convinced as sufficient reasons for her
criminal behavior.
