MINES AND DEMOLITIONS
DIRECT INSTALLATION/REMOVAL OF A
HAST !ROTECTIVE MINEFIELD

CONDITIONS
Given a temporary position, squad personnel and equipment, a lensatic compass, a
protractor, engineer tape, a map (1:50,000), pickets, metal mines from the basic load,
sandbags, a metallic mine detector, and ! "orm 1#55$1$% (&asty 'rotective (inefield
%ecord))
STANDARDS
*he minefield must be properly installed, ! "orm 1#55$1$% must be completed, and the
minefield must be removed and all equipment recovered)
TRAININ' AND EVAL(ATION
T)ainin* In+o),ation '-i.e
1) (ake a map study and a reconnaissance of the area to determine+
a) ,nemy avenues of approach (armor movement and foot soldiers))
b) -ocation of observation posts)
c) *errain features such as natural boundaries and obstacles)
.) /ubmit a report of intention to lay)
#) 0pon authori1ation to lay, submit a report of initiation before laying)
2) 3nstall or direct installation of the minefield)
Note/ o not use chemical mines, antihandling devices, or mines that are hard to detect)
/urface lay all mines in a random pattern)
a) -ocate a permanent reference point on the friendly side of the intended field)
b) esignate the location for each mine and ro4 marker for at least t4o ro4s)

the enemy))
c) %ecord each mine by type and detonation end marker (!.) in ro4 !)
