Introduction:
The teacher will begin by teaching students five sight words. These words will be
introduced in a large group setting. The students will practice spelling the words
and practice creating oral sentences with the sight words.
Activity 1:
The students will use a word processing document initially created by the teacher.
The documents will contain age appropriate sentences that have that weeks sight
words in the sentences. The students will begin by typing their name in a given
space at the top of the document. The students will go through the document and
using the highlighter they will find and highlight the sight words. Each of the five
sight words will be highlighted in a different color so the students will not only use
the highlighter they will also be able to change the color of the highlight being
used depending on the sight word. The students will then save and email the
document to the teacher.
Activity 2:
The students will use the five sight words taught for the week to write their own
sentences in the word processing document. The sentences can be basic sentences.
The students must spell the sight words correctly, but it is okay to use their kid
writing for the other words in the sentence. The students need to make sure
their name is on the document and then email the document to the teacher.
