Analysis: After reading the informational texts from the Unit 3 in the book and reflecting back on the novel To
Kill a Mockingbird, focus on a social issue that exists in our world today and write a proposal in which you
persuade readers to act in a certain way. Focus on purpose, point of view, and argument throughout the paper.

Performance Task:
Finish Task Performance Write an essay in which you analyze how an author unfolds a series of ideas or
events in a work of literary nonfiction in this unit. State which work you chose, and restate its central idea in
your own words. Identify key supporting details. Describe how the author introduces each idea or event, and
note the order in which these points are presented. Explain how this particular sequence is effective in
advancing the authors ideas.

Task Performance: Write an essay in which you discuss one characters interpersonal relationship with another character
from the play, Romeo and Juliet. Using the elements of plot, introduce the character and describe (him/her) in detail. As
you compose, consider your purpose, audience, and task as you describe your characters role in the plot of this text.
Include details about your characters thoughts and feelings that motivate your characters choice(s). Use relevant
examples of supporting evidence that give logical relevance to support your claim. Demonstrate command of the
conventions of standard English, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling in your essay.
