Project Sponsor: Katrina Miller
Date Prepared: April 14, 2014
Project Manager: Abigail Smith
Project Customer: ESUs Rehabilitation Counseling Department

Project Description, Purpose & Justification
The purpose of this project is to transition the Rehabilitation Counseling Degree program
to an online-only degree. This will allow a wider reach for the degree program, adding
value to the department. It will also allow potential students who are unable to travel to
obtain their degrees.
Upon completion, this project will:
Create an accessible, user-friendly, and connection-oriented online degree for
future students
Train faculty in principles of online teaching
Establish a marketing and recruitment plan
Integrate the new degree smoothly into the wider Emporia State University
community, including an updated website on the ESU servers
Faculty will be trained to build their own courses, with support. We will work together
with the ESU IDT teams Canvas training, and adapt it to our needs. We will work with
ESUs Disability Services office to ensure accessibility of the courses. A student entrance
and orientation course will be developed, with input from the team. A conceptual model
for student academic experience will be developed, with input from the team. We will
work with ESUs Marketing department to create marketing plans and materials.
The ADDIE model will be followed for each subsection of the project.
This should all be completed by August 1
st
, 2014, in time for the fall semester. In October,
a summative evaluation of all objectives will be completed, to assess quality,
effectiveness, satisfaction, and results.
