Combined Functionalities Increased Revenues,

BroadAccess can provide an assortment of
broadband and narrowband services, from
voice to IP and ATM over xDSL or fiber. This
enables the system to capture the
functionalities of numerous systems - a
narrowband DLC, TDM data multiplexer,
DSLAM and VoIP Access Gateway. Having a
multitude of abilities in one platform
leverages the service provider’s investment,
and saves the costs, integration and
maintenance efforts spent on combining
several types of systems.

BroadAccess paves the way to swift service
provisioning through its quick and easy

BroadAccess features a unique Dual ATM/IP

ArchitectureTM that enables it to transfer ATM
or IP traffic on the backplane to adapt to
different customers’ requirements. This
architecture consists of an ATM & IP
backplane, powerful packet processing, VoIP
Media Gateway units and integral SDH
STM-4 transmission card, which together
comprise an ideal architecture for supporting
ATM, IP, and new technologies as they
emerge.

Furthermore, the system’s integrative

packet/TDM architecture enables operators
to continue providing legacy services by
utilizing the existing infrastructure while also
supporting advanced broadband services.
Broadband Ports
Any port in the system can be configured as
a broadband port by using ADSL Combo Cards
and integrated interfaces to ATM/IP networks.
Smooth Migration to NGN
The BroadAccess system offers the
functionality of an Access Media Gateway,
enabling carriers to connect PSTN
subscribers to the VoIP Next Generation
Network. An Integral VoIP Media Gateway
card converts the voice traffic to IP packets
and transfers the traffic to the NGN.
BroadAccess performs standard media
processing, such as voice compression and
packetization, and implements standard
control protocols, including H.248 and MGCP.
Versatility
BroadAccess’ flexible architecture enables
customization to the customer’s needs at any
time. The platform is a model of versatility in
all aspects: service mix (from POTS to xDSL
and IP), open interfaces to the network (2W/V5,
VOIP, ATM/Ethernet), service capacity (64-

to a Greenfield area, supporting fiber/copper
transmission to the backbone. The system
can provide telephony, ISDN, fast Internet
and video for residential subscribers, and
telephony, asymmetrical and symmetrical
data services and leased lines for business
subscribers.
Adding Broadband
The BroadAccess IMAP can upgrade a legacy
DLC/RSU to add broadband services to an
area which previously received narrowband
services only. This enables the service
provider to perform a smooth migration to
broadband through integrated xDSL service
cards, while still capitalizing on the previous
investment in infrastructure.
Migration to NGN
The system, combined with a Softswitch,
creates a complete solution for the
replacement of Class 5 switches. It performs
the media conversion from TDM to IP in order
to connect users to the NGN.
By supporting both a VoIP network interface
and a V5.x interface, BroadAccess allows
operators to implement a gradual evolution
towards the NGN, along with immediate
delivery of voice services from softswitches,
