capability for Extension Number Portability (ENP) and is used in
conjunction with Automatic Route Selection (ARS), AAR and ARS
Partitioning, Private Networking, and Uniform Dial Plan (UDP). UDP
extensions can be routed to a specified node using its associated
pattern. NNR allows a UDP route pattern based on node numbers or on
location codes. On the AAR and ARS Digit Analysis Tables, you also
can specify a Node Number instead of a Route Pattern.

When possible make the min/max values equal to
prevent inter-digit timeout delays.

ARS Digit Analysis (continued)
Interdigit timeout
DEFINITY

ECS uses a long interdigit timer and a short interdigit

timer during the dialing process. Normally, a long,10-second
interdigit timer is used between each digit. This timer waits for
another digit when the digits dialed are not a valid destination. If
this timer runs out, you receive timeout and an intercept tone.
If the digits dialed point to a valid destination, but there is a similar
string of digits that is of different length, the short, 3-second
interdigit timer is started.
If dialing does not continue before the timers expire, the system
assumes that no more digits are to follow, and appends #to
indicate end of dialing. You also may override the timer by dialing
#. This results in faster call processing.
When no length ambiguity exists and all digits are collected, the
call is routed, and no timer or #is required.

The long interdigit timer is embedded in the generic
translations. The short interdigit timer can be modified
(change system-parameters features).

Route Pattern

Explain the field entries and note exceptions to the NPA field (such as
200) will be covered later.
The hop limit only applies to tandem tie trunks for G3V4 and later. The
hop limit and Traveling Class Mark (TCM) are sent in-band or PRI. This
refers to the Tandem hop count not satellites. If no hop count is
indicated on route pattern, it doesnt check. It just counts it and passes
it on.
Hop digit is administered on page 2 of the Tandem Trunk group form.
If hop limit is administered and outgoing hop limit (count) is less than
(<) the number on the route pattern screen, the call is allowed to
proceed incrementing the hop count.

MODULE 2 ARS and AAR Call Routing
Notes

VPN has several offerings, two that concern systems are Dedicated and
Switched:
Dedicated connects directly to the VPN network. The network does
not want a 1. As of August 1995, the VPN network has the capability
to strip the 1, if it was incorrectly inserted.
Switched uses the LEC to connect to the VPN network. The LEC
needs the 1 for long distance. The LEC will strip the 1 before it
forwards the digits to the VPN network.
The VPN network does have an IXC, or as they call it, a 1pic : 10732.
It is scheduled to be discontinued by end of 96, at that time the 4E
offices will route according to what the subscriber has registered.
Yes, there is an exception, large systems with private networks that use
7 digits for private network calls and 10 digits for public network calls
would need the 1. The system and VPN need to know what is private
and what is public, 1 does this, i.e., Ford Motor Company and General
Electric.

MODULE 2 ARS and AAR Call Routing
Faci l i t at ed Di scussi on
Route Pattern (continued)
Prefix Mark - Digit 1 Outpulsing
The digit 1 may or may not be required at the CO to which the
system routes a 7-digit or 10-digit call. Since any given call may
have up to sixteen (G3r) route choices and the routes may or may
not require a 1, the choice of sending a 1 or not is associated with
each route preference. The "Prefix Mark" field provides five
choices that only apply to fnpa and hnpa call types. Tie lines do
not require a Prefix Mark.
Prefix Mark 0 or blank - Does not send a Prefix digit 1 for
10-digit FNPA calls even if the user dialed it. Leaves a user-
dialed Prefix digit 1 for 7-digit HNPA calls and 10-digit calls
that are not administered as fnpa or hnpa call types.
This capability is required, for example, when routing
ISDN-PRI calls depending on your vendors
requirements for handling the digit 1. If the prefix digit 1
is not suppressed, then the vendor rejects the call.
Prefix Mark 1 - Send a 1 on 10-digit calls, but not on 7-
digit calls.
Prefix Mark 2 - Send a 1 on all toll calls whether user dials
1 or not. (For example, all 10-digit calls and 7-digit toll
calls.)
This requires a Toll Table for the system to determine
whether calls are local or toll.
Prefix Mark 3 - Send a 1 on all toll calls. Keep or insert the
NPA (from Dial Plan) to ensure that all toll calls are 10-
digits.
This requires a Toll Table for the system to determine
whether calls are local or toll.
Prefix Mark 4 - Always suppress the Prefix digit 1.
This capability is required, for example, when routing
ISDN-PRI calls depending on your vendors
requirements for handling the digit 1. If the prefix digit 1
is not suppressed, then the vendor rejects the call.

ARS Prefix 1 Required?
When the "ARS Prefix 1 Required?" field is set to "no," the
following rules are applied in ARS Digit Analysis and Digit
Conversion.
If a "1" is dialed, the system searches ARS Digit Analysis
and Conversion for an appropriate match. If a match is not
found, the system makes a second search of the tables
ignoring the "1" to find a match. The entry matched during
the second search must be either a fnpa or hnpa call type.
If it is not, the search fails and the caller gets intercept tone.
If a "1" is not dialed, the system searches ARS Digit
Analysis and Conversion for a match without regard to call
type.
When the "ARS Prefix 1 Required?" field is set to "yes,"
the following rules are applied in ARS Digit Analysis and
Digit Conversion.
Analysis and Conversion for a match IGNORING ALL
FNPA ENTRIES. The system assumes that a user must dial
a "1" for all fnpa call types when this field is set to "yes."

Administering Local Calls 7 Digit
Using the simulator terminal, make the necessary changes to route
the calls.
In the local calling area, you wish to route all calls to exchanges
beginning with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 as 7-digit local calls.
1. Change route-pattern 15 Assign trunk group 10 as the 1

Routing Local Calls 7 Digit
In the local calling area, the following new cell phone exchanges
have been added: 538, 850, 226, 375, 892, and 973. You need to
assign the exchanges explicitly because they will route over a
different route pattern than other exchanges that begin with 4, 5, 6,
etc.

Time: 5 minutes
Trunk Digit Outpulsing
When administering a route pattern for 7-digit dialing, the area
code in the NPA field must match the area code on the Locations
form. If the two are different, the system inserts the area code
from the Locations form.
If the call is being forwarded or covered off-net, the switch uses
the forwarded (or covered) stations location area code (instead of
the originators) because the call is routed as if the forwarded (or
covered) station is dialing.
If a 10-digit destination is being used to route the call to a route
pattern with the same area code, the system automatically deletes
the NPA digits and outpulses the remaining 7 digits as a local call.

Important! If the 10-digit dialing is required for all calls
(local as well as toll), the area code assigned to the
route pattern should be assigned to 200 so that the
dialed NPA never matches the route patterns area code
and all dialed digits are outpulsed.

Time: 20 minutes

This exercise has the students change the system for 10-digit local
dialing. The exercise has a new NPA overlaid over the existing NPA.
Callers can call from one NPA to the other as a local call. Advise the
students that a later module will review administration when not all 10-
digit dialing within the NPA is local.
Review this exercise after the students complete it.
Routing Local Calls 10 Digit
In the local calling area, a new area code (720) is being added.
This is an overlay to the existing area code (303). Calls to both the
303 and 720 area codes are local calls.
Make the appropriate changes to the system to support 10-digit
local dialing to the 303 and 720 NPAs.
1. Change route-pattern 11 Assign trunk group 10 as the 1

Notes for Guided Activity:

Reference Q1: Since Megacom trunks are tie lines,
the NPA field is left blank and PM is 4, 0 or blank.

Reference Q2: Using two digit entries will route all
present and future Area Codes to Pattern 3. Using
three digit entries for existing Area Codes, such as
120, 121, 122, will allow greater control in routing or

long distance and 1720 and the seven-digit number must be dialed.
We want the switch to route the call properly whether the 720
numbers are dialed with or without a one.
Use RHNPA tables to differentiate local calls from toll calls.

Have the students list toll all. Explain and relate the field entries
to the COR form. Point out the routing impact of changing the default
field entries and provide examples to use the restricted, and
unrestricted call lists to emphasize toll fraud issues. Explain how the
Prefix 1 Required field entry affects the search for a match. Have the
students add 12, 13...19 and remove 20, 21...91 dialed strings on the G3
simulator.
Toll Analysis

Refer to DEFINITY ECS R9 Administrators Guide
(555-233-506), " Screen Reference" , Toll Analysis
The system checks the toll analysis form when a station's COR has
a "y" for RCL, a 1 to 10 for UCL, "all-toll" or "tac-toll" for Calling
Party Restriction, or Forced Entry of Account Code.
Dialed string
Up to 18 digits
Must be a unique dial string or have unique min/max
digit entries
Min/max fields
Defines the number of digits for a valid call.
Up to 28 digits maximum
RCL
Assigns the entry to the RCL.
Toll List
Assigns the entry to the toll list.

MODULE 2 ARS and AAR Call Routing
Faci l i t at ed Di scussi on

Time: 10 minutes
INP (International Numbering Plan)
INP divides the world into nine calling zones. International calls
vary in digit length depending upon the country being called.
Calls consist of the CC (Country Code) +the NN (National
Number) +the station digits. Larger countries have shorter CC
digits. Example, Spain is 34 and Portugal is 351.
1 to 3 digit CC (first digit =World Zone Number)
NN =city code +local number
The prefix 011 is required on direct dial international calls
originating in the U.S. and is treated as part of the address.
International calls are translated in ARS digit analysis using the
"intl" call type.
Dial Min-Max Call Remarks
String Type
01 9-28 iop intl operator
011 10-28 intl intl call

Important!
Administrators will need to watch for international
locations using the NANP. These locations should be
translated as exceptions in the ARS Analysis tables
according to company policy for international calls.

Check the internet for additional locations:

MODULE 2 ARS and AAR Call Routing
Faci l i t at ed Di scussi on

Time: 10 minutes

AFRLS should be discussed in relation to the administered FRL on the
route pattern.
Features Affected by Route Pattern FRL
Two features interact with the FRL selected on the route pattern:
Alternate Facility Restriction Levels
Authorization Codes
Alternate Facility Restriction Levels
Alternate Facility Restriction Levels (AFRL) allows DEFINITY

ECS to adjust facility restriction levels or authorization codes for
lines or trunks. Each line or trunk is normally assigned an FRL.
With this feature, alternate FRLs are also assigned.
Attendants or System Administrators can change to the alternates,
thus changing access to lines and trunks. For example, a company
might want to use this feature to disable most long-distance calling
at night to prevent unauthorized staff from making long-distance
calls.

Important! AFRL impacts AAR and ARS Call Routing
because it may change the routing preferences. Using
AFRL on tandem and tie-trunk applications affects
entire networks. Calls that may be part of a cross-
country private network may be blocked.

Have the students map FRLs 0 through 3 to alternate FRL 3 and FRLs 4
through 7 to alternate FRL 7. Discuss the implications of various call
scenarios.

Authorization codes should be discussed in relation to the administered
FRL on the route pattern.
Features Affected by Route Pattern FRL
(continued)
Authorization Codes
You can use authorization codes to enable callers to override a
stations calling privileges. For example, you can give a supervisor
an authorization code so they can make calls from a phone that is
usually restricted for these calls. Since each authorization code has
its own COR, the system uses the COR assigned to the
authorization code (and FRL assigned to the COR) to override the
privileges associated with the employees phone.

Note that authorization codes do not override dial
strings that have their route patterns denied. For
example, if your ARS tables restrict users from placing
calls to Columbia, a caller cannot override the
restriction with an authorization code.

Important! You should make authorization codes as
long as possible to Increase the level of security. Set the
length of authorization codes on the Feature-Related
System Parameters screen.

Authorization codes may be used to:
Override facility restriction levels (FRLs) assigned to
originating stations or trunks
Restrict individual incoming tie trunks and remote-access
trunks
Track CDR calls for cost-allocation purposes
Provide additional security control

CAMA Centralized Automatic Message
Accounting (E911)
Centralized Automatic Message Accounting (CAMA) trunks route
emergency calls to the communitys Enhanced 911 systems and
provide Callers Emergency Service Identification (CESID)
information to the system. Public Service Answering Points
(PSAP) use CAMA trunks to determine the callers physical
address.
CAMA Numbering Format
This screen, accessed using the change cama-numbering
command, administers the Centralized Automatic Message
Accounting (CAMA) trunks.
This screen provides the CESID format by extension number or
number blocks. This allows for multiple CESID formats to be sent
over multiple CAMA trunk groups allowing for mixed station
numbering plans and some limited conversion from non-DID to
DID numbers typically required by the Private Switch/Automatic
Location Interface (PS/ALI) database.
The default CESID defines the CESID for all extensions that are
not defined in the Ext Code field.
Required Forms
The following forms must be administered for CAMA E911
trunks groups:

CAMA Numbering Format
Class of Restriction
Calling Party Restriction
