ECS to adjust facility restriction levels or authorization codes for
lines or trunks. Each line or trunk is normally assigned an FRL.
With this feature, alternate FRLs are also assigned.
Attendants or System Administrators can change to the alternates,
thus changing access to lines and trunks. For example, a company
might want to use this feature to disable most long-distance calling
at night to prevent unauthorized staff from making long-distance
calls.
Important! AFRL impacts AAR and ARS Call Routing
because it may change the routing preferences. Using
AFRL on tandem and tie-trunk applications affects
entire networks. Calls that may be part of a cross-
country private network may be blocked.
Have the students map FRLs 0 through 3 to alternate FRL 3 and FRLs 4
through 7 to alternate FRL 7. Discuss the implications of various call
scenarios.
