The Juche Ideology

Ju means master, and che means body, In which results in "Master of

Body" which means "Self-Reliance".
Juche, also referred to as Kimism, Is a Leninist Nationalist ideology made
to fit North Korea's situation. And is a philosophy that one's country should
have a very independent position in military and economy. Rejecting
dependence on others and thinking for himself, believing in his own dependence on others and thinking for himself, believing in his own
strength, according to Kim Il Sung in his own words. In Juche
communism, the revolutionaries are the masters of the reconstuction of
the country. Solving one's country's problems is one's own responsobility
under all circumstances. The Korean people have to solve the country's
problems by their own talents and initiative.
InJuche, Man is the master of all things. Karl Marx believed that individual
figures had no control over the general trend of economic determinism.
Juche's Origins
Kim Il Sung maintained that the Juche philosophy is based on two major
frustations he felt with the Korean revolution such as the anti-japanese
class struggle. The revolutionary vanguard had lost contact with the
proletarians and was fighting a battle without support. And factionalism proletarians and was fighting a battle without support. And factionalism
corrupting the revolution.
The juche idea values man's interest and that man is in charge of the
world therefore has ultimate control over it. The underlying principle of the
juche idea is the application of Marxism-Leninism in a specific manner that
suits the history, current realities and geographical, political and
economical situation of the country. This theory was first stressed by Mao
Zedong. Despite Juche's loyality to Marxism-Leninism, it does not strictly

adhere to Marxist-L en in ist p rin c ip l es.
The Three Main Components of Juche
Three specific applications of juche philosophy is, political and ideological
independence and self-reliance.
The key components for the Juche ideology is explained by Kim Il Sung in
a speech titled "Let Us Defend the Revolutionary Spirit of Independence,
Self-Reliance, and Self-defense More Thoroughly in All Fields of State
Activities." in which he delivered to the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA). Activities." in which he delivered to the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA).
SPA consists of one deputy from each of 687 constituencies, elected to
five-year terms.
Chaju: Domestic and foreign independence
Having equal and mutual respect among other nations. The state has the
right of self-determination in order to secure prosperity and happiness of
it's own people as it best sees fit. According to Juche as interpreted by the
DPRK, yielding to foreign pressure or tolerating foreign and western
intervention would make it impossible to maintain chaju. This would
threaten the nation's ability to defend the interests of the people, as it is
absolutely critical for military self-defense and economic self-sustenance.
Kim Jong Il predicted that foreign powers would lead the failure of a
socialist revolution in Korea (Republic of Korea). Among socialist countries socialist revolution in Korea (Republic of Korea). Among socialist countries
such as Cuba, USSR, China and several third world countries, Kim Il Sung
urged for limited dependence. While it is important to learn from the other
examples of socialist countries. Kim Il Sung claimed that the success of
Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) was credited to the
independent behavior in which the problems were solved, conforming
Marxist-Leninist principles to the specific conditions of the DPRK. One of
the main factors of achieving chaju would be that the people rallied around
the party and the party leaders.
Charip: Economic Independence
A self-sufficient and independent national economy is needed to achieve
national prosperity. It is important to secure political integrity. Charip is
seen as the material basis for chaju. Economic independence on foreign
aid will render the state to politics and capitalism of other countries, aid will render the state to politics and capitalism of other countries,
according to Kim Il Sung. He believed that it is impossible to build a
socialist republic without economic independence. The economy would
consist of heavy industry and the machine building industry. At it's core
which would focus on agriculture, light industry and transport.
An economy serves it's own people and developes strength of the
resources one's country own and by people's effort. Independent food

Chaw i:
Military Independence
The final area of independence is self-reliance in defense.
"We do not want war, nor are we afraid of it, nor do we beg peace from "We do not want war, nor are we afraid of it, nor do we beg peace from
imperialists."-Kim Il Sung. "Imperialists moves of aggression of war"
Violence was seen as the best way to win a revolutionary cause and to
defend national independence. Those who were not in the army were to
contribute to the maintenance of the domestic defense. Kim Il Sung knew
that foreign support was necessary in the holistic war against foreign
imperialists. But still, remain very independent so he prepared the Korean
people to cope with war to be ready to defend their country and ideology.
