Chapter 5 : Case Studies
This chapter has to be in accordance to following steps in serial order
Particulars of each Case selected for study
Min. 02 live cases + 01 case via internet / book source
o This should include Name of the case project / building/s, location, etc and each case should be
given an identity (ex.: case 1 / CS-01/ etc)

Reasons for shortlisting each case for study
o Mention briefly, why was the case identified for study? (similarities / popular work/ benchmark
design / award winning design/ critical work, etc)

Each Case study in detail as follows
Complete detail Case facts & figures :
o Name of the project/building, name of the building under study (if different),
o Exact location with locality/ road/ city/ state/ country,
o Owner of the property/ building,
o Architect & other key consultants of the building under study,
o Area of the Site in sq.m (and in acres also),
o Total Built-up Area of the building under study in sq.m,
o Date of completion of the building under study,
o Key Aspects (ex. No. of rooms / type for hotel, no. of beds for hospital, etc..)

Complete analysis of the each case with context to each parameter :
o Location (in context to locality, city/town/ district, state, country,
o Connectivity / linkages (in kms & travel time peak & off-peak),
o Neighbourhood analysis,
o Site environment & micro climate (Profile, soil type, terrain & topography, hydrology),
o Climatological response of the building/s,
o Form & function analysis of the building/s,
o Complete details of each type of space in the building/s in terms of area/ heights (in certain
cases), type of activity conducted, brief analysis of each area with mention of spl. provisions for
enhancement of the space or usage or critical remarks about the same.,
o User Behaviour & response observed,
o Horizontal & Vertical Transportation systems,
o Structural system/s or construction technology adopted in the building/s,
o Building materials & finishes with analysis,
o All services provided in the building/s (HVAC,Fire/fgt.,Water supply,Drainage,Elec.,etc)
o Universal Access design analysis (Barrier free Architecture),
o Parking details with analysis,
o Landscaping Design & Details with analysis,
o Green Building initiatives with analysis.
Chapter 6 : Case Studies Analysis
This chapter has to be in accordance to following steps in serial order
Comparative Analysis of all case studies in matrix with remarks of the student for each of the facts
and parameters. Note the data/info with respect to each parameters / each case has to be
mentioned only in brief.

Conclusions of the complete Case study Analysis with design pointers generated through it.
