FieldCare Device Setup ...
Field Device Tool (FDT)
FDT is a standardized interface specification that allows
the integration of intelligent devices into, for example,
asset management and process control systems.
All configuration and communication information is
carried in Device Type Management (DTM) programs
(DeviceDTMs and CommDTMs) supplied by the vendor.
The DTMs run under the control of a FDT frame
application:
Open technology, independent of device or
system supplier
Independent of device type
(sensor, actuator, remote I/O etc.)
Full support of installed base
Full device functionality
Independent of communication protocol Ethernet,
HART, PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION fieldbus ...
Vertical integration by nested communication
FDT connected
FieldCare Device Setup is Endress+Hausers
universal FDT-based tool for configuring
devices and various system components.
If not delivered with the device, it can
be downloaded free-of-charge from
www.endress.com. Device Setup provides
basic parameterization and diagnosis
functions, and can be upgraded for Plant
Asset Management solutions by purchasing
the appropriate license.
Features
Operates all Endress+Hauser devices
Supports HART, PROFIBUS and
FOUNDATION fieldbus protocols
Supplied with complete library of certified
DTMs for Endress+Hauser devices
Has integrated CommDTMs and drivers
Automatically scans for devices
Is the first FDT frame application to be
certified by the FDT Group
Languages EN, DE, FR, ES, IT, CH, JP
Supports Windows XP

, Windows Vista

,
Windows Server 2003

and Windows 7

HART/WirelessHART
Devices using the HART protocol can be
parameterized on the test bench or in situ
by making a point-to-point connection via
a HART modem. The modem may connect
to the (laptop) computer via a USB plug or
Bluetooth wireless connection.
PROFIBUS DP and PROFIBUS PA
PROFIBUS devices are parameterized in
situ through a direct connection via a
Class 1 master that supports FDT
technology. Alternatively a bypass
connection via a Class 2 master, e.g.
Fieldgate FXA720 can be used.
Diagnosis information can also be collected
via the PROFIBUS network.
FOUNDATION fieldbus
For FOUNDATION fieldbus devices, the
user has the choice of parameterizing in situ
via the Controller, provided this supports
FDT technology, or a visitor device, e.g.
Fieldgate SFC162. Parameterization is
also possible on the workbench using the
SFC162 in controller mode and in future
by employing a FOUNDATION fieldbus
modem. Diagnosis information can be
collected via the FOUNDATION fieldbus
network.
Universal tool
Device diagnosis
Endress+Hauser devices offer device
diagnosis based on the NAMUR NE107
recommendation. In the example, an
empty pipe has been detected by a
Promass 83 FOUNDATION fieldbus
device
Parameterization
Off and on-line parameterization allows
devices to be configured in both the
engineering and commissioning phases.
Set up is quick, simple, transparent and
includes analog input or output blocks
for fieldbus devices.

FieldCare PAM license ...
A PAM license extends FieldCare
capabilities beyond those of Device Setup,
providing a scalable solution that can be
tailored to user requirements.
Features

Operates all registered HART, PROFIBUS
and FOUNDATION fieldbus devices via
iDTM (option)
Protection against unauthorized access
Document management in interactive
plant view
Device reports
Condition monitoring (option)
W@M connectivity
Update service (option)
All round support
Document Management
FieldCare Plant View allows the plant
network to be mapped and documents to
be stored at each of the nodes.
Update Service
Users signing up for the optional update
service, receive regular updates of DTM
libraries and software.
Support
Endress+Hauser offers all round support
in engineering, commissioning and
maintaining your PAM solution.
iDTM
An iDTM inteprets the DD/EDD of a
fieldbus device making it configurable in
FieldCare. iDTMs are currently available
for HART and FOUNDATION fieldbus,
with PROFIBUS in preparation. The iDTM
option includes all DDs/EDDs that are
registered with the associated user group.
User Management
Access to plant information is controlled
by user name and password. Users are
assigned specific access rights, e.g. viewing
only, full configuration rights, etc.
Plant-wide access
FieldCare PAM provides plant-wide access to field
devices using nested CommDTMs, DTMs and iDTMs.
Linearization
This DTM function allows strapping tables to be generated for various tank shapes
as well as for open channels and weirs
iDTM
Any registered field device without a native DTM can be operated with an iDTM.
iDTMs are optional and associated with a communication protocol
Envelope Curve
As a standard DTM function for time-of-flight level transmitters, the envelope
curve allows operation to be optimized in critical applications
W@M Connectivity
For W@M account holders, the Device in Network function connects directly
via Internet to device data in Endress+Hausers database
Network and Plant View
Device DTMs and iDTMs are opened from Network View, which is created
during project set-up. A Plant View, mapping the network, can also be created and
used to store device certificates, drawings etc.
Reports
FieldCare offers a number of reports which detail the status of software
components and the configuration of devices used in the system

Proof of Function
Condition Monitoring can also be used to
prove functionality. Many Liquiphants are
used in overspill protection applications
where regular functional tests are required
by company regulations or national law. By
monitoring the operating frequency range,
the user can not only provide proof of
function without interruption of the process
for mechanical tests, but also receives
advanced warning of any corrosion or
build-up on the forks.
Evidence is provided in the form of
printable trend analyses or device reports.
Condition Monitoring
The optional Condition Monitoring module
extracts information from selected devices
and alerts users of a tendency towards
failure. Since Condition Monitoring
combines operating and instrument know-
how, it is always engineered together with
potential users expressly for their needs.

W@M Connectivity
W@M connectivity comes with the basic
PAM license, but must be activated before
use. It allows the Endress+Hauser W@M
Internet portal to be opened from a device
node in the Network View or connects
to a locally installed W@M Enterprise
application.
Features
Manufacturing history of selected device
Original calibration
Device documentation, drawings etc.
Product availability and replacements
Spare part finder
Service and repair informtion
For users with a W@M account:
Mapping of plant complete with
measuring point tags
Storage of configurations, documents etc.
also for 3rd party devices
Comparison of configurations
W@M connectivity allows the user to connect to
Endress+Hausers device database where the complete
manufacturing history of a product is stored
Device Configuration History
As of FieldCare version 2.08, off and online
device configurations can be uploaded to a
W@M Hosting or Enterprise application,
providing a historical record of device
settings.
Should a device be replaced by another
with a different firmware version, it is
possible to compare the current settings
(and parameters) with those of the previous
device. The user needs only click on the
device node in the network view and
select the compare function. Differences
in parameters and settings are then
highlighted in red.
