REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is the systematic and scientific application of pressure on the nerve endings
of reflexes to promote homeostasis thus stimulates the bodys own healing system. Note:
Most sensitive (very effective) reflexes are found on the feet and hands. There are
7,200 nerve endings on the sole of each foot.
Three factors contributing for imbalance
1. Stress HYPERFUNCTION
2. Improper diet BALANCE HOMEOSTASIS
3. Negative thoughts HYPOFUNCTION
Signs of imbalance (chronic)
1. Color, temperature and texture
a. If the color of the foot is so bluish or reddish, indicate poor blood circulation
b. If the foot is cold, poor blood circulation
c. If the foot perspire a lot of glandular imbalance
d. If the skin of the foot is so dry, poor blood circulation and glandular imbalance
2. Swelling or puffiness of the foot particularly around the ankles, this can relate to
internal problems.
3. If the feet are very tense, then this may indicate tension in the body.
4. Feet are rather limp with poor muscle tone, this has indicate poor muscle tone
throughout the body.
5. Hammer toes (bended or curved), indicate problem in the head, sinuses or teeth.
6. Ingrown toenail, may relate to headache/migraine.
7. Inflamed joints on the inner side of the foot (bunions) may indicate a cervical
(neck) problem or even a thyroid problem.
8. Flat feet, indicate a problem with the spine.
9. If the cuneiform bones are sunken, there may be a problem with the small
intestine.
10. Crystal like deposits, calcium deposits which settle beneath the skin surface at the
nerve endings in the feet (especially where there is tension present in the body)
this will indicate imbalance in the corresponding body areas.
Ticklish sensation this may experienced by the beginners so the pressure applied is firm
enough (2 to 5 lb, 1 to 2.3 kg.) not to produce a ticklish sensation but still if an area
(reflex point) does not appear to be ticklish, this often relates to a problem (imbalance) in
the body area or system to which the underlying reflex area corresponds. Note: Tender
or swollen feet, poor circulation.
Benefits of Reflexology
1. It reduces stress and induces deep relaxation
2. It improves circulatory
3. It cleanses the body of toxins and impurities
4. It balances the whole system
5. It revitalizes energy
6. It is preventative health care
7. It stimulates creativity and productivity
8. It nurtures relationship
9. It reward the practitioner
Contraindications (Caution)
1. High blood pressure 9. Blisters
2. Heart diseases 10. Cracks or open wound
3. Weak kidneys and lungs 11. Verrucas
4. Hard skin (bunions) 12. Athletes foot
5. Diabetes 13. New scars
6. Corns 14. Varicose veins
7. Puffiness 15. Other skin pathologies
8. Pregnancy 16. Just after meal
