Functions title: ICT Assistant

Level: GS-6, Fixed-Term Contract.
Purpose: Under the general supervision of the Operations Assistant, provide technical, operational and procedural support and end-user services in the optimal utilization of the available resources, in order to maintain/provide efficient computer information systems and services, as well as to improve work effectiveness and productivity, consistent with the goals, objectives and strategy for the Office and the Organization.
Major duties and responsibilities:
• Assist with the introduction and technical operation of organizational computer applications. This involves overall understanding of the functioning of the system and the interaction of data between Sections within the Office and with HQ Divisions. Assist to install new versions of the systems and troubleshoot ad-hoc user problems in its functioning.
• Arrange for and/or perform office training and support for computerization. Outside training may need to be arranged or in-house training courses formulated and given. Ad-hoc support to users experiencing difficulties will involve analyzing the source of the problem and solving it, whether hardware or software related.
• Administer the office multi-user network and other data and telecommunication facilities. This involves administering user access to the network, data security of the network, and troubleshooting ad-hoc hardware or software problems experiences on the network.
• Support the official meeting and conferences with the installation of audiovisual equipment. Also keep its optimum functioning/maintenance and control of these(i.e. laptops, data-show, cameras, etc.) by an electronic inventory system.
Minimum requirements:
• Graduated in Science Computer or System Engineering, or completed University studies supplemented by training through university courses in computer sciences.
• Six years progressively responsible experience in information technology as well as systematic methods of troubleshooting and analytical problems solving, providing assistance to users on ICT products and services, and use of applications and diagnostic tools. Fundamental working knowledge of TCP/IP in an Ethernet Local/Wide Area Network environment. Fundamental knowledge of Radio communication VHF, HF and Satcoms. Practical experience with various computer plataforms and applications: operating systems, email and database systems, Microsoft Office product suites, advanced PC/laptop/printer installation, configuration, t roubleshooting and repairs. Work experience in providing ICT support to remote fields offices in developing countries is considered an asset.
• Good working knowledge of English and Spanish, written and spoken.
