Clients information
Name: Meor Muhammad Azim Syamell b. Meor Azman
Age: 10 years old
Class: 4 Zamrud
Date of birth:
Case background
Meor is a year 4 student. e is from !ear 4 Zamrud "hi#h is the first #lass in year 4. !ear 4
Zamrud is the #lass that $ tea#h %nglish during my &ra#ti#um in this s#hool' S.( Seri )emilang.
*he first day $ entered the #lass' he "as +ery &roa#ti+e "here he fre, uently ans"ered the
,uestions that $ as-. e "as "ell +ersed in %nglish and #ould ans"er ,uestions. As days "ent
by' he started to disturb the #lass. e disturbs his friends during the tea#hing and learning
&ro#ess. e used to bo. his friend and sometimes disturbs his friends. *hus' the tea#hing and
learning &ro#ess "ould be delayed be#ause of his beha+ior. /hene+er $ ga+e him #lass "or-
and home"or-' he seldom #om&letes it unless if $ &ush him to do so.
$ #ontinued #olle#ting information about Meor. *he tea#her "ho is tea#hing the same #lass said
that he is also the same during the lessons. After fe" times tal-ing to him and ad+ising him' he
"ould #om&lete his "or- and do not #ause &roblems in the #lass. 0ut' after not gi+ing enough
attention' he "ould start to disturb his friends and "ould not #om&lete his "or- and home"or-.
A&art from that' after the fe" lessons' he "ould e+entually start to #ause &roblems in the
#lassroom li-e disturbing his friends' running around the #lassroom' bo.ing his friends and not
#om&leting his "or-s. $ used to re&rimand him on his a#tions' but he "ould start to do nonsense
li-e disturbing his friends' bo.ing his friends and not #om&leting his "or-s.
$ also too- the initiati+e to #he#- his "or-boo-s. $ obser+ed that most of the time' he fails to
#om&lete his home"or- and #lass "or-. is boo- had less "or-sheets #om&are to the other
&u&ils.
Ways to collect data/information
*o dis#o+er further on the &roblem that is #aused by Meor' $ had &lanned on #ertain "ays to
#olle#t data. Some of the "ays that $ "ould be using is obser+ation' ,uestionnaire and inter+ie".
*hese are the methods that $ "ould be using to dis#o+er more on the &roblem.
1 !bser"ation
$ "ould be #arrying out obser+ation on the beha+ior of the student. 1bser+ations "ould
be #arried out during my #lass hour. $ "ould obser+e the beha+iour of Meor outside of
the #lassroom to determine "hether his beha+iour is only in the #lassroom or also
outside the #lassroom. Coming out "ith field notes are the best "ay to obser+e the
#hanges in the beha+iour of the student. *he field notes "ould be used to obser+e the
#hanges in beha+iour of Meor in the #lassroom as "ell as outside the #lassroom.
# $uestionnaire
2se of ,uestionnaire is another method of data #olle#tion that $ "ould use in this #ase
study. *he use of the ,uestionnaire "ould gi+e a #learer &i#ture of "hy this &arti#ular
student is #ausing &roblems in the #lassroom. 3or my #ase study' $ "ould be using Meor
as my #ase study. *he use of the ,uestionnaire "ould gi+e the definite ans"ers from the
students itself and it "ould more reliable. *he ,uestionnaire that $ "ould &re&are "ould
#onsist of fe" ,uestions regarding the beha+iour of the student. So' $ "ould be gi+ing the
,uestionnaire to Meor so that $ "ould get more information on his beha+iour and "hat
#aused him to #ause &roblems in the #lassroom.
% &nter"ie'
A&art from using obser+ation and ,uestionnaire as my #olle#tion of data' another
method that $ thin- "ould be effe#ti+e to #olle#t information is by inter+ie"ing the student
himself. $nter+ie" is a good method of #olle#ting data4information. *he use of inter+ie"
"ould be more &ersonalize "here the tea#her #an as- ,uestions to obtain information
from the student. 0efore that' the tea#her must gain the trust from the student so that it
the student "ould be more outs&o-en and "ould not be fearful to share e+erything to the
tea#her. $n my #ase study' $ "ould be using inter+ie" as one of my data #olle#tion
method. $ "ould use it to inter+ie" Meor so that $ #an get more &re#ise information on his
beha+iour that he &ossesses and "hat #auses him to do so.
Case re(ort
$n the &rimary s#hool #onte.t' "e as tea#hers fa#e many #hallenges from the tea#hers'
administration and not to forget the students in the s#hool. $t is tedious to fa#e these #hallenges
as "e are normal human li-e e+eryone. *he #hallenges that normally fa#ed by tea#hers are the
&roblemati# students in their #lassrooms. *hese students #ause &roblems in the #lassrooms
thus affe#ts the tea#hing and learning &ro#ess.
3or instan#e' in my #lass' $ en#ounter "ith a &roblemati# student. *he student al"ays disturbs
the tea#hing and learning &ro#ess "here he "ould disturb his friends' #ause #haos in the #lass
and not #om&leting his #lass "or- and also his home"or-. *he student that $ referred to is Meor.
e is a year 4 student in S.(. Seri )emilang. During my %nglish #lass' $ often en#ounter this
student distru&ting the tea#hing and learning &ro#ess. e "ould disturb his friends' run around
the #lass and "ould not finish his "or- on time. e is a &roblemati# student in the #lass and
some of the &u&ils do not li-e him and his a#tions.
5ertaining to the #ase' $ ha+e done some resear#h on the thera&ies that "ould be suitable to be
a&&lied to this &arti#ular student. 2&on my resear#h' $ thin- the best "ay to o+er#ome this
&roblem is using the story telling thera&y.
Story telling thera&y is a thera&y or #ounseling te#hni,ue that has su##essfully attra#ted the
attention of the &u&ils. *he integration of stories in tea#hing and learning is one "ay that is
effe#ti+e to attra#t the interest of the &u&ils. /ith the in#lusion of moral +alues and interesting
#ontent' the &u&ils "ould be interested to follo" the flo" of the story. *his is a good "ay to
arouse the interest of the &u&ils in tea#hing. $n short' storytelling thera&y is an im&ortant as&e#t
in guidan#e and #ounseling.
*he use of storytelling thera&y has its o"n good. 1ne of it is the use of story #ould &ortray the
inner emotional of the #hara#ters in the story. *he use of the story hel&s to relate the e+ents of
the story to the &roblems that the students en#ounter in their li+es. *hus' the &u&ils "ould be
more #onfident to share "hate+er is in their heart. 3or e.am&le' the use of a story #ould hel&
Meor to relate his &roblems to the #hara#ter in the story and this "ould ma-e him more
#onfident to share his &roblems.
A&art from that' the use of stories hel&s &u&ils to sol+e &roblems #reati+ely. /hen listening to a
story' the &u&ils #an figure out the best "ay to o+er#ome the routine &roblems that they are
fa#ing at that instan#e. *he &u&il #an figure out the best "ay to o+er#ome their &roblems that
they are fa#ing. 3or e.am&le' my student Meor #an figure out the best "ay to o+er#ome his
&roblem from the stories that he had heard "here he "ould relate it to his #urrent doings.
*he use of the stories also reminds us that human as a uni+ersal #a&ital. 3ro e.am&le' the
students get to re#all that e+eryone is uni+ersally same and e+eryone has #hallenges and ha+e
to fa#e the #hallenges. 0y doing this' the &u&ils get to e+aluate themsel+es as a "hole or
uni+ersal. *he &u&ils "ould be able to understand that all human fa#e the same &roblem and
there are "ays to o+er#ome those &roblems. 3or e.am&le' my student' Meor #an refle#t on his
a#tions. 3irst' he needs to understand that e+eryone fa#es #hallenges in this "orld and &eo&le
do #reate &roblems. 0y doing this' it "ould hel& him to fa#e the &roblem and he #ould slo"ly
#ease his a#tions and im&ro+e himself to be a better &erson.
0esides' the use of the story should sho" the #auses and effe#ts of an a#tion. $n a story' there
are many #hara#ters. *he use of the story is to &ortray the #hara#ters "ho has su##eed or failed
in their li+es. *hus' &u&ils #an learn and refle#t on the #ause and effe#t of their a#tions. 3or
e.am&le' my student' Meor #an relate his life to the #hara#ter in the story. e should refle#t on
his a#tions and learn the #auses if he #ontinues this beha+iour and the effe#ts of his a#tions to
himself and to the surroundings.
$n #on#lusion' the use of storytelling thera&y is an effe#ti+e thera&y or #ounseling te#hni,ue to
#ater to the &roblems that the &u&ils are fa#ing in s#hools and surroundings.
