At Moncion lower dam(Contraembalse de Moncin), in the
Dominican Republic, (Capote et al, 2003) the foundation was
composed of little consolidated lutites and fine to very fine
sands, limestones.
Laboratory tests gave

Frossard (2011) describes the project for the Koudiat-
Acerdoune dam in Algeria (in service from 2009), founded
on soft marly and calcareous schists prone to sliding in dam
abutments. Due to the low value of the terrain deformability
modulus (Em=1 GPa at terrain surface and Em=3 GPa at
30 meters depth) it was necessary to find a concept midway
between the conventional CCR dam and the hardfill one;
the required compressive strength of CCR was reduced to
11MPa. See the dam in figure 9.
