Please consider my application for a Registered Nurse position at Spectrum Health, as
advertised on the Spectrum Health website. I will graduate from Ferris State University in
August 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

As you can see in my enclosed rsum, I have worked at Cedar Springs Big Boy restaurant for
the past eight years. I began as a hostess but was promoted to a waitress position. As a waitress I
was constantly greeting guests, taking orders, and ensuring that all customers were taken care of.
Some days can be somewhat chaotic and very stressful. Days such as these help me to deal with
stress in a calm and reasonable manner. My work as a waitress has helped me to develop
excellent communication skills and teamwork. I believe these qualities are important to have as a
nurse because communication with patients and interdisciplinary team members is essential in
providing safe and quality patient care.

During school, I have worked hard to maintain a 3.5 GPA. My classes have given me knowledge
in the nursing field that is necessary to care for patients in a holistic and safe manner. I am also
CPR certified which is one of the qualifications that was listed in the job description. My
experience, education, and personality have equipped me with the skills necessary to work well
with people, communicate effectively with others, and to help those in need.
