550kV GIS has an integral phase-separated construction to facilitate its operation and maintenance at site.
This GIS is rational, simple and compact in construction, excellent to withstand seismic movements/earthquake
and wide application to meet the requirements
FEATURES
1 Stable breaking properties
The circuit breaker has a large breaking capability of 67-70kA, holding a lead advantage against same
domestic type of products. The energy of arc and effect of turbulent flow have been considered and researched
properly in the design of the arc chamber to strengthen the arc blowing ability of nozzle. The self-reliance
contacts are used without any springs to be more reliable in electric contacting. The arc contacts are made
of copper and tungsten integrality so that no dislodgement happens. There are only a few parts inside the arc
chamber, as a result, it has a stable working property.
2 Reliable operating mechanism
The opening by pneumatic force and closing by spring force are used in the operating mechanism of the
circuit breaker. It is characterized by simple construction, rich experience of operation and convenient
maintenance. This mechanism has been supplied by one of the XD-Mitsubishi joint-venture enterprise in
Xian, China, which specially manufactures various types of arc chambers and operating mechanisms for
both Mitsubishi and XD.

3 High insulating reliability
The insulating spacers, tubes, levers and insulating desks etc for the GIS are made with casting machines
from Germany and under the chemical direction and production processing from Mitsubishi. The power
frequency withstand test and partial discharge test have been done on those parts and the values of the
partial discharge are lower than the requirements by IEC.
4 Perfect assembling and testing conditions and minimum work at site
The GIS is assembled and tested against similar conditions of assembling site, packed in transport unit after
tested, for easy and convenient transport and minimizing work at site.
5 Lower leakage of SF6 gas
The mode of separated monitoring is used in the SF6 gas system of GIS, doing away with SF6 valves and SF6
piping system. New self-sealed adapters and SF6 gas densimeters are used to get rid of the possibility of SF6
leakage outside the GIS, lowering the SF6 gas leakage.
