Question 01:
When would the JEE (Advanced) 2014 be held?
Answer:
The JEE (Advanced) - 2014 will be held on 25 May, 2014 (Sunday).
Question 02:
What is the format of JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
It is an offline (pen and paper based) examination. There will be two separate objective
type (Multiple Choice Question) papers, namely Paper-1 and Paper-2, each having
separate parts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The duration of each paper will
be of 3 hours. The question papers (QP) will be available either in Hindi or in English.
The candidate will have to choose the language of QP while registering for
JEE(Advanced)-2014.

What will be the syllabus for JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
The syllabus is there in the Main Menu of the web site of JEE (Advanced) 2014 and
also as Appendix-1 in the Information Brochure (IB) available at JEE (Advanced)-2014
website.
Question 04:
What will be the eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:
The candidates have to first appear in Paper-1 of JEE(Main)-2014. Only 1,50,000 of the
top scorers of Paper-1 of JEE(Main)-2014, including all categories, will be eligible to
write JEE(Advanced) 2014. Candidates who appeared in their qualifying examination
(QE) (10+2 or equivalent) earlier than 2013 are not eligible.
Question 05:
What would be the admission eligibility criteria for candidates who have passed their
QE in 2013 or are appearing in 2014?
Answer:
For those candidates who appeared QE in 2013 (for the first time) or who will be
appearing in 2014, the eligibility criteria for admission is that they must be within the
top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective boards and categories of
the corresponding year.
Question 06:
What is the age limit for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
Candidates of GE and OBC categories must have been born on or after 1st October
1989 and those of SC/ ST/ PwD categories must have been born on or after 1st October
1984.
Question 07:
When would the JEE (Advanced) 2014 registration / application start?
Answer:
Online Registration can be done from 4th - 9th May 2014 at the website
http://jeeadv.iitkgp.ac.in. Only those candidates who are in the top 1,50,000 (including
all categories) in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2014, will be eligible to register .
Question 08:
Would the percentile score be based on Science stream subjects or on all the subjects?
Answer:
The percentile score calculation will be based on all the subjects of the QE (10+2 or
equivalent). The cut off marks for all the categories will be provided by the respective
boards and the same will also be made available in the websites of the Zonal IITs.
Question 09:
How many attempts are permitted, for a candidate, to write JEE (Advanced)?
Answer:
A candidate can write JEE (Advanced) only twice and that too in two consecutive years
starting from the year of appearing 10+2 (QE) for the first time. Candidates who had
appeared in IIT JEE 2012 or earlier are not eligible to appear JEE (Advanced) 2014.
Question 10:
What is the registration / application fee for JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
The registration fee for JEE (Advanced) 2014 is:
1. Rs. 2000 (Two thousand rupees only) for the GE/OBC/OBC(NCL) male
candidates,
2. Rs. 1000 (One thousand rupees only) for the SC/ST/PwD male candidates and
3. No fee for the female candidates of all categories
4. US$ 220 for ALL candidates appearing from Dubai centre.
Question 11:
How does a candidate pay the registration fee for JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
To pay the registration fees for JEE (Advanced) 2014, a candidate needs to follow the
following steps:
1. Fill up the online registration form completely.
2. On completion of registration process, a bank payment challan will be
generated.
3. Print the generated challan.
4. Make the payment against the generated challan at any branch of State
Bank of India (SBI) having Core Banking Solution (CBS).
5. Get the counterpart of the challan endorsed by the bank.
Additionally, provision for electronic mode of payment is under process, if
implemented, will be notified in the website at the appropriate time.

The payment / registration will be possible (on the JEE(Advanced)-2014 website) only
after declaration of results of Paper-1 of JEE(Main)-2014.
Question 12:
What are the documents needed to be uploaded/communicated for completion of
JEE(Advanced)-2014 registration process ?
Answer:
The following necessary documents are needed to be uploaded at the time of
registration:
1. Class X mark sheet (if DoB is not mentioned in it, then you have to upload a DoB
certificate instead of it.);
2. Class XII mark sheet, if available;
3. Caste / category certificate (as applicable) in the prescribed format
(ANNEXURE-4 and Annexure-5 available in Information Brochure and also
downloadable from this web site);
4. PwD certificate in the prescribed format (ANNEXURE-6 available in
Information Brochure and also downloadable from this web site), if applicable;
5. Duly filled in Scribe Form (ANNEXURE-2 available in Information Brochure
and also downloadable from this web site), if applicable.
Candidates are advised to keep the scanned copy of the above documents ready well in
advance.
Question 13:
Where can we get JEE (Advanced) 2014 Information Brochure (IB)?
Answer:
Information Brochure (IB) will be available online and can be accessed / downloaded
through any of the following zonal sites

Question 14:
Those who are appearing for their 10+2 board examination (or equivalent) in 2014 (or
have passed QE in 2013) and after all efforts if the percentile score is not available for
their board, then what will be the admission eligibility criteria?
Answer:
In case the percentile score of QE is not made available by any duly recognized Board,
the CBSE score for top 20 percentile of the successful candidates in the students
category of the corresponding year will be used for determining the admission
eligibility.
Question 15:
When does a candidate need to fill-up necessary form to appear JEE (Advanced) 2014
?
Answer:
Online Registration can be done from 4th to 9th May 2014 at the website
http://jeeadv.iitkgp.ac.in. Only such candidates who are in the top 1,50,000 (including
all categories) in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2014, will be eligible to register .
Question 16:
Do the students have to pay single application fee for both JEE (Main) 2014 as well as
for JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
No. The application fee for JEE (Advanced) will have to be paid separately.
Question 17:
How does a candidate find out his/her registration status for JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
The registration status, including the receipt of payment, will be available on the JEE
(Advanced) 2014 website. If the receipt is not indicated within 72 hours of the
payment, then the candidate should contact JEE (Advanced) 2014 office at IIT
Kharagpur.

How does the candidate get his/her admit card for the JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
The admit card for JEE (Advanced)-2014 can be downloaded from 11th May 2014
onwards from the following websites:

To download his/her admit card the candidate needs to enter his/her
JEE (Main) 2014 registration number,
Date of Birth (DoB) (dd/mm/yyyy),
Password (Necessary instruction will be mentioned in JEE(Advanced)-2014
website).
This downloaded admit card must be produced before the invigilators at the
examination hall.

The original hard copy of the JEE (Advanced) 2014 admit card will be handed over to
the respective candidate in the examination hall. Candidates are advised to keep the
hardcopy of the original admit card safely.
Question 19:
When and where will the results of the JEE (Advanced) - 2014 be available?
Answer:
The results of the JEE (Advanced)-2014 will be declared on 19th June 2014 (Thursday).
It will be available at the website http://jeeadv.iitkgp.ac.in
Question 20:
Will the ORS of the candidates who have appeared in JEE (Advanced) 2014 be
displayed?
Answer:
Yes, the ORS of the candidates who will appear in JEE (Advanced) 2014 will be made
available on the website of JEE (Advanced) 2014 from 8th June 2014 (Sunday) to 11th
June 2014 (Wednesday). Note that only those candidates who would have written both
the papers of JEE (Advanced) 2014 will be able to view their ORS. Results of
candidates who would have written either of the two papers, will not be declared.
Question 21:
I appeared both in IIT JEE - 2012 and also JEE (Advanced) - 2013. Will I be eligible to
write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:
No. You are not eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014.

I appeared in IIT JEE - 2012, but did not appear in JEE (Advanced) 2013. Am I be
eligible to write JEE (Advanced) 2014 once I qualify in JEE (Main) - 2014?
Answer:
No. You are not eligible to write JEE (Advanced) 2014.

Question 23:
I qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2013, was allotted a seat and I paid the admission fee,
but did not join a programme at any of the institutes (IIT/ISM Dhanbad). I also did not
apply for withdrawal within the deadline stipulated by JEE (Advanced). Am I eligible
to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:
No. You are not eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014 .
Question 24:
I passed 10+2 examination in 2013 and also qualified in JEE (Advanced) - 2013. I
appeared for counselling for JEE (Advanced) - 2013 and was offered admission in one
of the IITs/ISM, Dhanbad, but did not report for certificate verification and did not pay
the admission fee. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:
Yes. You are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) 2014, if you are within the top 1,50,000
candidates (including all categories), who qualify with their respective category wise
cut-off scores in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2014.
Question 25:
I passed 10+2 examination in 2013 with less than minimum marks in qualifying
examination (MMQE). I wrote JEE (Advanced) - 2013 but did not qualify. I will be
appearing for board re-examination in the year 2014 so that I can obtain MMQE. Am I
eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:
Yes, you are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014 only if:
1. You are writing all the subjects of the QE in 2014, and
2. You are within the top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories), who qualify
with their respective category wise cut-off scores in JEE (Main) 2014.
Question 26:
I passed 10+2 examination in 2013 with less than the 20 percentile cut off marks in the
qualifying examination (MMQE). I did not write JEE (Advanced) - 2013. Now I will be
appearing for board re-examination in the year 2014 so that I can improve the
percentage of aggregate marks to be in top 20 percentile of my examination. Am I
eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?

Question 27:
I appeared and passed 10+2 examination in 2012 but obtained less than minimum
marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). I appeared for an improvement
examination of 10+2 in the year 2013 and obtained aggregate marks above the 20
percentile cut-off of my Board. I took JEE(Advanced)-2013 but could not qualify. Am I
eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:

qualifying examination (MMQE). I did not attempt IIT JEE-2012. I took JEE

qualifying examination (MMQE) in the aggregate. I wrote IIT JEE-2012 but did not
qualify. I took 10+2 examination in 2013 and got more than the MMQE. I took JEE
(Advanced) - 2013 but did not qualify. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?

Question 31:
I appeared in 10+2 examination in 2011 and obtained less than the minimum marks for
qualifying examination (MMQE). I wrote JEE-2011 but did not qualify. I took 10+2
examination in 2012 and obtained more than the MMQE. I did not write IIT JEE -2012.
Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:

Question 32:
I appeared in 10+2 examination in 2012 and failed. I qualified IIT JEE-2012 but my
admission was cancelled. I appeared in 10+2 examination again in 2013 and obtained
more than the minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). I wrote JEE
(Advanced) - 2013 but could not qualify. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?

Question 33:
My 10+2 Board/QE results will not be announced by 15th July, 2014. Should I attempt
JEE (Advanced) 2014 ?
Answer:
If your QE results are not available latest by 15th July, 2014, you are suggested to
attempt JEE(Advanced) 2015.
Question 34:
I passed the 10+2 exam in 2013 and wrote JEE (Advanced) - 2013. I was admitted to the
Preparatory Course of an IIT in July 2013. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) -
2014, if I qualify in JEE (Main) - 2014?
Answer:
Yes. You are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014 if you are within the top 1,50,000
candidates (including all categories), who qualify with their respective category wise
cut-off scores in JEE (Main) 2014.
Question 35:
I passed the qualifying examination in 2012 or before, with aggregate marks less than
minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). I have taken admission in
another Board (QE) in 2013 and obtained MMQE. Am I eligible to write JEE
(Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:
No. You are not eligible to write JEE (Advanced) 2014.

Question 36:
I am a NRI/PIO/OCI/ foreign national. Is there any special treatment offered for
admission through JEE (Advanced) 2014?
Answer:
No. All OCI/PIO/NRI/ foreign national applicants have to satisfy the eligibility
conditions meant for the GE candidates. The candidate has to appear in Paper-1 of JEE
(Main) 2014 and has to qualify to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014.
Question 37:
I am studying in a foreign country. How do I get admission after qualifying in
JEE(Advanced)-2014 on the basis of the diploma/certificate that I would obtain from
my board?
Answer:
You have to provide a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU),
when you submit your completed application form, stating that the diploma/certificate
you will receive is equivalent to the 10+2 system of Indian Boards.
Question 38:
I appeared for JEE (Advanced) -2013 and qualified. I got an admission offer in an
IIT/ISM Dhanbad based on my JEE (Advanced) - 2013 All India Rank (AIR). I failed to
obtain the required minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). Am I eligible
to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:
Yes, you are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014 only if:
(1) You have written QE for the first time in 2013 for all the subjects, and
(2) You are within the top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories), who qualify
with their respective category wise cut-off scores in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2014.
Question 39:
What is the registration fee for candidates who take the JEE (Advanced) 2014
examination in Dubai centre?
Answer:
The registration fee for JEE (Advanced) - 2014 for candidates who opt for the Dubai
Centre is US$ 220 (two hundred and twenty US dollars) irrespective of categories and
genders.
Question 40:
A candidate who qualified JEE (Main) in 2013 and admitted in NITs and wants to write
JEE (Advanced) - 2014. Does he need to write JEE (Main) - 2014?
Answer:
Yes. He needs to write the Paper-1 of JEE (Main) - 2014. If selected within the top
1,50,000 (including all categories), the candidate will be able to write the JEE
(Advanced) - 2014.
Question 41:
How will I know whether I am qualified to write JEE (Advanced) - 2014?
Answer:
The list of 1,50,000 qualified candidates (including all categories) of Paper-1 of JEE
(Main) - 2014 will be available at the IIT Kharagpur website: http://jeeadv.iitkgp.ac.in
once the result is announced by CBSE.
Question 42:
I am only interested to study B.Arch in IIT. Do I need to write only Paper-1 or only
Paper-2, or both Paper-1 and Paper-2 of JEE (Main) - 2014?
Answer:
All candidates aspiring for undergraduate courses in IIT (irrespective of any branch)
should write Paper-1 only of JEE (Main) 2014. If selected within the top 1,50,000
(including all categories), the candidate will be able to write the JEE (Advanced) - 2014.
Moreover, candidates desirous of joining the B. Arch. courses will be required to
qualify in an Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) to be conducted at all zonal IITs on
26th June 2014. However the seat allotment will be done based on the JEE (Advanced)
2014 rank only. Online registration (http://jeeadv.iitkgp.ac.in) for appearing in AAT
need to be done from 20th to 24rd June 2014.
Question 43:
Will the examination structure for JEE (Advanced)-2015 remain the same as that of
2014?
Answer:
The examination structure for JEE (Advanced) 2015 and beyond may change. If so,
details regarding this will be made available at a later date.
Question 44:
I am interested to pursue B. Arch. in IIT. What procedure I have to follow to appear in
the Architecture Aptitude Test?
Answer:
First, you have to give B. Arch (available in IIT Kharagpur and Roorkee) as your
choice while filling the choice sheet online at the JEE (Advanced) portal. Additionally,
the page on which you will view your result of JEE (Advanced) 2014, will have a link
to follow in case you are interested to write Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT). The link
will take you to a page where you will be asked to Register for AAT. You have to
register between 20th 24th June, 2014.
Question 45:
If I am interested to write Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT), do I get a separate Admit
Card for that?
Answer:
No. You have to use your original Admit Card which you would have received during
writing the JEE (Advanced) 2014.
Question 46:
When will the result for Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) be declared?
Answer:
The result will be declared on the 29th June, 2014 and will be displayed in this web site.
Question 47:
Do the candidates qualifying in the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) get separate
ranks?
Answer:
No. There is no separate ranking based on the result of AAT. Seat allocation will be
done only on the basis of AIR obtained in JEE (Advanced) - 2014
Question 48:
Which are the currently recognized Qualifying Examinations (QE) for admission?
Answer:
Refer to section 3.4 of Information Brochure (IB) for the list of QE recognized as
eligibility criterion for admission.
