Traditional method of teaching large number of students does not open them to get
adequate exposure. They are being confined to scheduled books and classroom walls.
Giving lecture style presentations is often regarded as old-fashioned and connected with
many disadvantages: Lectures fail to provide instructors with feedback about student
learning and rest on the presumption that all students learn at the same pace. Moreover,
students' attention wanes quickly during lectures and information tends to be forgotten
quickly when students are passive. Finally, lectures emphasize learning by listening, which
is a disadvantage for students who prefer other learning styles. Although it has many
demerits, traditional teaching involves teachers who with their years of experience impart
useful information which cannot be found in online courses. They can physically examine
us to understand our problem and give proper guidance. They take to the inside of a
subject. Many subjects are there which is difficult to understand without a help.

Technology ushers in fundamental structural changes that can be integral to achieving
significant improvements in productivity. Used to support both teaching and learning,
technology infuses classrooms with digital learning tools, such as computers and hand held
devices; expands course offerings, experiences, and learning materials, supports learning
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, builds 21st century skills; increases student engagement and
motivation; and accelerates learning. Technology also has the power to transform teaching
by ushering in a new model of connected teaching. This model links teachers to their
students and to professional content, resources, and systems to help them improve their
own instruction and personalize learning. Blended learning opportunities incorporate both
face-to-face and online learning opportunities. The degree to which online learning
takes place, and the way it is integrated into the curriculum, can vary across schools. The
strategy of blending online learning with school-based instruction is often utilized to
accommodate students diverse learning styles and to enable them to work before or after
school in ways that are not possible with full-time conventional classroom instruction.
Online learning has the potential to improve educational productivity by accelerating the
rate of learning, taking advantage of learning time outside of school hours, reducing the
cost of instructional materials, and better utilizing teacher time. These strategies can
be particularly useful in rural areas where blended or online learning can help teachers and
students in remote areas overcome distance .Schools can use digital resources in a variety
of ways to support teaching and learning. Electronic grade books, digital
portfolios, learning games, and real-time feedback on teacher and student performance, are
a few ways that technology can be utilized to power learning. Advantage of learning time
outside of school hours, Reducing the cost of instructional materials, and better utilizing
teacher time. These strategies can be particularly useful in rural areas where blended
or online learning can help teachers and students in remote areas to overcome
distance.Multimedia computers can present any type of auditory or visual materials -
including speech, text, music, animations, photographs, or videos - alone or in different
combinations. They can link different types of representations such as pictures with
sounds, oral readings with written text, videos with subtitles, or any other combinations
that might reinforce teaching and learning. They can also provide enormous flexibility,
allowing the user to set the speed of speech, decide whether written text is also read aloud,
choose the language presented in text and speech, or decide whether to repeat the
presentation. This flexibility can be valuable in presenting educational tasks-such as
phonemic awareness practice, phonics lessons and drills, fluency practice, vocabulary
instruction, and opportunities to learn and apply text-comprehension strategies-to
students.
Technology has also affected humans in classroom education. Since technology has been
introduced as a medium for teaching back in 1900s, it has gradually replaced the human
teachers and now students mostly rely on computers, television and other electronic
mediums. Although these technology brings certain benefits in the classroom, it causes
some students to be distracted and unmotivated to learn at school because they believe
that learning by themselves using the computer is a much better and faster way.
Discrepancies in computer skills may make assignments more difficult to complete for
some students. Computer malfunctions can cause them to lose assignments or materials. In
the case of online courses taken from home, varying Internet speeds and devices available
to students at home may cause some students difficulty. Additionally, acquiring
information in an online course relies largely on student motivation and self-monitoring,
which may be difficult for some students. When students replace paper and pen with a
computer for education, handwriting skills may suffer. Adult learners benefit from
increased brain activity when writing new information by hand, particularly in subjects
such as math and chemistry. Most computer word processing programs include a spelling
and grammar check, and students might rely too heavily on the computer to correct
spelling and grammatical errors. Financial problems may prohibit some students from
owning a computer, placing them at a disadvantage. Low-income college students are less
likely to have easy access to a computer and may not have learned basic computer skills
that other students learned at a young age. This puts them at a disadvantage when college
classes require heavy computer usage.
