Interventions at Tata Motors Jamshedpur.

cycle.

presentation on Performance Review Process, said that the purpose of
PRP is to enable organization and individuals success by aligning

Muda Identification and Kaizen.
Mr. Ranjot Singh, Regional Coordinator,
ACMA(ER) & MD, Emdet Jamshedpur,

customer will pay for. The process consumes resources and waste occurs
when more resources are consumed than are necessary to produce the
goods or provide the service that the customer actually wants. Muda or
wasteful activities are a waste and its reduction is an effective way to
increase profitability. He requested the participants to learn everything
they can and utilize their learning in increasing the productivity and
profitability.
Mr. Chanda established the relationship between terms like cost, price
and profit and told the delegates to question the present system, identify
the gaps and wastes and eliminate/ minimize it towards cost reduction. He
also discussed JIT and JODOKA concepts and explained with the help of
various slides, innovation verses kaizen. He discussed MUDA, MURI,
MURA types of wastes. Another type MIRU was discussed which means
not only to see problems superficially but to closely observe and nurse
them.
By showing various slides, Mr. Chanda discussed the seven wastes and
how Kaizens can be done to reduce these wastes. He also showed what is
an ordinary production, what is a fake flow production and a required flow
production in a plant. At the end of the programme, Mr. Sanjay Singh,
Managing Director, Highco Engineers p. Ltd. proposed the vote of thanks.
The delegates were also shown flow production and various Kaizens

Two Days Workshop on
GD&T
New Delhi: January 21- 22,
2011
ACMA (Northern Region) organized a
two-day workshop on Geometric
Di mensi oni ng and Tol eranci ng
(GD&T). GD&T is the collection of
symbols which is used, by design
engineers to communicate geometric
requirements for components and
assemblies. GD&T which is based on
Engineering and Manufacturing
principles ensures reduction in cost, interchangeability, and integrity of
design requirements and has been widely used in manufacturing
industries as their mechanical drawing standard. The faculty, Mr. Sanjay
Sharma, DGM, Rico Auto Industries Ltd. explained in detail that GD&T is a
language that enables design engineers to "say what they mean" on a
drawing, thus improving product designs and lowering cost. GD&T is a
common technical drawing language for the designer, tool manufacturer,
gauge manuf act urer, process
engineer to accurately describe the
size, form, orientation, and location of
part features. It encourages designers
to define a part based on how it
functions in the final product or
assembly. While explaining the
benefits of GD&T he said, applying
and interpreting GD&T correctly leads
to creating clear and concise drawing,
that reduces assumption throughout
the manufacturing process, improve
product design, and effectively
communicate design requirements to
suppliers and manufacturers.
The workshop was organized to share standard method of interpreting
the design and to determine best manufacturing approach. Many
symbols and terms i.e. Zones, Tolerances, Datum etc. used in GD&T
were discussed during the session. The workshop was focused on
actual data with case studies and exercises for product, process and
design engineers.

ACMA-YOUNG BUSINESS
LEADERS' FORUM (YBLF)
A generational transition is quietly taking place
concurrently, in the substantially family-owned and
family-managed auto component industry in India. For
the young, second-generation entrepreneurs, the high
growth opportunity is adrenalin. The challenges are
daunting, but there is strong determination to win. It is
this group of Just do it generation that constitutes the
YBLF.
ACMA's response to the unprecedented change in the
competitive scenario, the growth opportunity and a
generational change in the industry, was the creation of
the forum in 2003 for Young Business Leaders where they
could interact, exchange ideas, meet with Thought
Leaders, visit industrial units, make friends and live a
life, as they prepare to takeover the management of their
units.
It has been some time since ACMA-YBLF began, an
initiative that is now widely recognised in the Industry.
In this time, the Forum has had many Quality Sessions,
both National & International.
YBLF Membership is over 150 across India. The members
share and learn together, to develop the business
confidence and acquire the leadership skills required to
face the emerging challenges in our industry. The
companies represent are existing members of ACMA and
this is one eligibility criteria for being an ACMA-YBLF
member.
What started as an idea to network, in our auto
component industry, is rapidly turning into a unique
movement, where we are witnessing the development of
potential leadership, through an organised structure: the
Young Business Leader Forum (YBLF).
In this exciting journey, YBLF gives the most important
opportunity - to form bonds of friendship, which can be
cherished for a lifetime.
