Tutorial 1 Two Area Power System Initializing the simulation
to a specifc load fow.
T1.1 Create a new case by using either the Menu or Toolbar. A new
case should appear in the Workspace settings entitled noname [psc].
Right-click on this Workspace settings entry and select Save As and
give the case a nae.

T_01_a.psc

a sipli'ed two area power syste as shown in the 'gure below. A ((
k transission line connects Station A to a )** MW wind %ar. All
other connections to Station A are represented by an e+uivalent ,-*
k. source. The e+uivalent source ipedance is derived %ro a steady
state %ault study at /* 01. The line is represented by its series
reactance. The trans%orer is represented by its ipedance2 re%erred

The utility plans to add -** M.ars o% capacitive reactive power at
station A to support the ,-* k. bus voltage. A transient study is
re+uired to design e+uipent o% this installation.
Calculations and siulations are re+uired to deterine the
valuesCratings o% the associated liiting reactors Ainrush and outrushB

The circuit inside the sub page represents a ,-* k. capacitor bank with
E steps per phase Asee attached diagrasB. #ach step is rated at ,(
MvarCphase. The capacitor banks are solidly grounded. The inrush and
the outrush reactors si1es are to be deterined so that the switching
transients do not e<ceed the breaker capabilities and are within the
=### standards.
The values o% the outrushCinrush reactors have been deterined using
I222 4',.%+.&%%%.

RE. Also easure the currents in the breakers.
