TWINSTAR USER GUIDE
What is the difference in each of the TWINSTAR models?
Twinststar models are classified into two types. One is used to inhibit the growth of algae in a
planted aquarium, while another is used to protect livestock (fish and shrimps) from diseases.
Is the IC the same for all TWINSTAR models?
Each IC is specially designed for a specific application. We have to consciously provide different
designs to suit different usage, since the requirement for inhibiting algae growth and
preventing fish disease are not the same.
Both the Reactor and IC are produced all different for varying intensity and life span.
Will the pH affect the products effectiveness?
pH will not affect the products effectiveness and neither will TWINSTAR change the pH.
How long can TWINSTAR be used?
TWINSTAR can be used continuously for more than 12 months. We also supply the Reactor for
replacement.
What is the power consumption?
It is less than 10w/h.
What precautions should be taken before installing?
When the aquarium is newly setup, install TWINSTAR only after removing the soil dust / particles
completely through a water change. This is because the residues and dust particles can shorten
the Reactors lifespan.

Will TWINSTAR change the pH or alter the hardness of water?
TWINSTAR has no effects on the pH or hardness of water.
Whats the sterilization principle of TWINSTAR?
TWINSTAR can produce sterilizing factor by reacting with water to destroy the cell walls of green
algae to inhibit growth, as well as preventing fish disease .
What are the bubbles when TWINSTAR is operating?
Its pure oxygen .
Will TWINSTAR affect nitrobacteria ?
TWINSTAR will not affect nitrobacteria . TWINSTAR can make plant grow healthy and increase
dissolved oxygen. So the culture of nitrobacteria can also be increased.
Will TWINSTAR oxidize the iron? Will TWINSTAR affect the nutrients?
Will TWINSTAR reduce the efficiency of fertilizers?
TWINSTAR does not oxidize the iron, but if too much Fe is added, it will be absorbed onto the
surface of the Reactor and shorten its lifespan. Please take precautions when adding too much
Fe (iron).
It is fine to use general liquid fertilizers for aquatic plants. In one of our lab trials, we had used a
specific brand ; ADA STEP 1/2/3 plus Brighty K and the results showed that there were no
adverse effects on both the plants and TWINSTAR. Hence it is safe to be used along with
different brands of fertilizers.
Will TWINSTAR cause changes to some fish and shrimp products
containing Aloe vera and vitamin C? Will there be any adverse effects?
TWINSTAR will not have any effects on these products.
What are the health risks of having our hands dipping into the water
when the product is in operation?
There is no problem but we strongly do not recommend to have our hands dipping in the
aquarium when the product is operating. Please turn off the power during certain prolonged
activity such as the plant trimming.

Can TWINSTAR operate 24 hours a day?
TWINSTAR can operate automatically to On/Off, and operate according to the changing
environment of the aquarium.
Do I need to install an additional timer?
There is no need to install an additional timer for TWINSTAR because it has an automatic
program.
Why there are still moss growing even after installing TWINSTAR?
Because there are toxic matters remaining.
Can I add salt into the aquarium?
TWINSTAR may stop operating if salt is present.

When power is cut-off
TWINSTAR has an automatic power cut-off system for protecting its electronic circuit whenever
it detects that the conductivity in the water is too high. Please do a water change and reinstall
TWINSTAR.
How about product warranty?
Consumables (Reactor)s warranty period is 6 months. The warranty period for Controller is one
year.

Warranty is not valid for the following.

- There are soil dust or Fe on the surface of Reactor. (Lack of maintenance by user)
- There are calcium on the surface of Reactor.
- Damage to the Reactor mesh caused by non recommended cleaning methods such as
scratching, hard brushing etc.
How long can the consumables last?
If use in accordance with the instructions stated in the manual and cleaning it once every two
weeks, can be used for more than one year.
Led lamp is blinking normally, but bubble do not come out.
1. Please confirm if the power cord is properly connected.
2. Please confirm if there are calcium deposits on the surface of the Reactor.
3. Please confirm if there are soil /dust particles or Fe forming on the surface of the Reactor.

Installation
How to install TWINSTAR
Please be sure to change more than 50% water before installing TWISNTAR. Be sure to install
TWINSTAR after removing algae completely, since TWINSTAR can not kill algae, it will just inhibit
them.

If the algae is not removed completely, it will continue to grow. Please make sure to do that
before installing TWINSTAR, in order to achieve its optimal effect. Introducing Yamato shrimps
is an effective way to remove remaining algae.

Please note that in a newly set up aquarium, some algae may grow on the plants as the plants
have not established themselves yet. Do take note and remove them immediately.

Install location
Please install TWINSTAR in the area where there is good water flow. For the best performance,
we recommend installing TWINSTAR at the bottom of the outlet in the tank. If installed in the
area where there is little or no water flow, there will be no performance.

How to remove calcium deposits on Reactor Mesh?
Ca+ with polarity may bond onto the surface of Reactor. Calcium may leach from the stone
layout aquarium, or calcium concentration will increase in shrimp aquarium because shrimp
feed contains calcium. In this way, the calcium concentration of water will increase. As a
result, calcium will be absorbed onto the surface of the Reactor. There are also other factors
that can cause calcium deposits to form.
Please use the following way to remove them.

How to remove the calcium deposits from Reactor Mesh?
Add a packet of TWINSTAR Cleaner into a cup filled with boiling water. Once the Cleaner has be
en dissolved completely, soak the TWINSTAR Reactor into the cup and wait until the calcium is
completely removed. Discard the solution.
Confirm that the
bubbles are very little.

Confirm that calcium deposits
are found on the surface of
the Mesh.
TWINSTAR cleaner
Add 15g into a cup. Add boiling water into the cup to
dissolve the Cleaner completely.
Chemical reactions on the
calcium deposits.
After removing the calcium, you will
find that a lot more bubbles have been
released.

How to clean the TWINSTAR Reactor?
The Reactors surface has some algae growth. In this
case, please soak the Reactor in a bleaching solution
for 2~3 hours and use a soft sponge to clean the
plastic housing.
The mesh of the Reactor is made with a special coating. Using a hard bush to clean the surface
of the Reactor will result in damaging the coating, reducing its lifespan and performance.
Do not attempt to brush the mesh.

Please soak the Reactor in a bleaching solution for 3 hours and wipe the plastic housing gently
with a soft sponge. It is recommended to clean it once every two weeks, to help extend the
lifespan.

NANO / MINI
TWINSTAR NANO and MINI are designed for inhibiting algae growth in an aquarium. They also
have some effects on preventing fish diseases.
NANO and MINI are used according to various tank capacities. Please refer to the following
chart.
NANO has 2 function modes: Mode 1 works like a MINI while Mode 2 is used in an aquarium
with a larger volume.

NANO
Capacity of Mode 1 : 50L ~ 120L
Capacity of Mode 2 : 150L ~ 200L

MINI
Capacity : 50L ~ 120L

Please use one NANO and one MINI if capacity is more than 200L.
Why plants grow rapidly?
If the plants are seen under a microscope, you can find that algae is on the leaves. These algae
on the plants can disrupt the process of plant photosynthesis and inhibit plants growth.

TWINSTAR can inhibit algae especially those not seen visually so as to promote photosynthesis.
TWINSTAR can promote plants growth through increasing micro-nutrient uptake and providing
equilibrium.
If I use NANO and MINI only for inhibiting algae, there will be no effects
on the prevention of fish disease. Is it true?
NANO and MINI have some performance for the prevention of fish disease, but they do not
work as well as Super S.
Why do the color of the leaves look more vibrant after using TWINSTAR
for 2 months?
TWINSTAR provides the environment for full photosynthesis by inhibiting algae, so that plants
can grow more healthy and beautifully.

NANO / MINI
Can MINI be used in a 30L tank?
TWINSTAR MINI is designed for 50L~100L capacity tank. We do not recommend using MINI in
small capacity tank.
I want to use TWINSTAR in a tank more than 250L. If using in a 500L tank,
how should I install TWINSTAR?
It is ok to install 2 units of NANO Mode 2. The best way to install TWINSTAR is to place one on
each side of the tank.
I know that NANO and Super S are different through your homepage.
But my tanks capacity is 300L, how should I do it?
If using in a 300L tank, please install NANO and MINI together.
Will my mosses in the aquarium be damaged by using the TWINSTAR?
No problem, moss is a type of plant. It is different from algae.
Will there be any problems if additives are added?
Using general additive such as ADA STEP 1,2,3 and Brighty K, will not cause any problems. Do
take note that excessive iron (Fe) absorbing on surface of the Reactor will make its performance
and lifespan lower.
Does it work effectively against Green Dust Algae on the tank wall?
Yes, TWINSTAR do work to them.
Will algae be disappeared completely?
TWINSTAR can not kill algae but inhibit algae. So keep your tank clean before installing
TWINSTAR to yield the best results.
How should I change water?
Please use the existing way to change water.

Super S / Mini S
TWINSTAR Super S and Mini S are specially designed for prevention of fish disease. Super S and
Mini S have the same function and they are used in varying tank capacity. Super S is used in
Arowana, ray and discus fish aquarium. Mini S is used in small aquariums
Super S has 2 kind of mode. Please refer to the following capacity.

Super S
Capacity of Mode 1 : 70L ~ 150L
Capacity of Mode 2 : 200L ~ 350L

Mini S
Capacity : 70L ~ 150L

Please use Super S and Mini S together in more than 350L tank.
Can Super S and Mini S be used to inhibit algae like NANO and mini?
Super S and Mini S are used to prevent fish diseases. They have function of inhibiting algae, but
they do not have effects on plants growth. Super S may have limiting effects to inhibit algae
growth if used in aquariums with more than 200L.
Can Super S and Mini S treat fish disease? (Such as white spot disease)
TWINSTAR cannot be used to replace medication to treat fish disease. But it is good to use along
with any fish medication. White spot disease always happen in tropical fish aquarium because of
changing water temperature. If white spot disease happens, please maintain water temperature
to 28~29, then install a Mini S or Super S. In our experience, white spot disease will be
completely cured.
Does TWINSTAR have any adverse effects on fish?
It has been tested for more than 1000 times and in many customers tanks. No negative
feedback have been received.
Can TWINSTAR be used in saltwater?
TWINSTAR cannot be used in saltwater.
Will fish die if using in saltwater?
TWINSTAR cannot be used in saltwater.

Shrimp
TWINSTAR Shrimp is designed to prevent crustacean disease. As fish disease is different from
crustacean disease. Shrimp is used in a different way. TWINSTAR Shrimp can only be used in a
shrimp aquarium.

TWINSTAR Shrimp can effectively prevent disease and improve the environment, so that baby
shrimp can grow more healthy. Growth rate of baby shrimp also can be increased.
To some extent, TWINSTAR Shrimp also can inhibit algae in shrimp aquarium.

Capacity : 60L ~ 120L
Do Shrimp also have performance for inhibiting algae?
Even though Shrimp has performance for inhibiting algae, it does not work like NANO and Mini.
Shrimp is designed to prevent crustacean disease.

Please select different model for your purpose.
Please use TWINSTAR Shrimp in shrimp aquarium.
Is fish disease same as shrimp disease?
No, they are different.
Is it ok to use Mini S in a shrimp aquarium?
No, Please use TWINSTAR Shrimp in a shrimp aquarium.
If using NANO/Mini or S series in shrimp aquarium, is there any
influence to shrimp? Will shrimp die if they touch the Reactor?
NANO/Mini or S series cannot be used in shrimp aquarium, they will have adverse effects on
shrimps.
Shrimps will not die if they touch the Reactor.
