1. How do you comment on the purpose of the study formulated by the authors ?
The purpose has corelation with the conclusion because: the purpose is to elucidate the prevalence
of and risk factors for work disability in severe adult asthma and to evaluate the impact of work
disability on downstream health outcomes, and the conclusion explain about risk factors for work
disability.

2. Write the research question of the study!
What is the association among poorer asthma severity, physical health status, and mental health
status with a higher risk of complete and partial work disability?

3. Explain the importance of the study as related to the previous research!
The importance of the study as related to the previous research is to identify another risk factors
for work disability in severe adult asthma beside the occupational exposures that had concluded by
American Thoracic Society Statement.

4. The authors mentioned about factors related to the risk of work dissability caused by asthma.
Mentioned and explain those factors!
a. Asthma Severity
Other authors also have reported asthma severity as a risk factor for work disability, but
they did not use a validated comprehensive measures of disease severity.
b. Work Disability
There has been little information about work disability which associated with poor health
outcomes in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
c. Smoking
Past smoking was associated with complete work disabiity, whereas smoking status was
not associated with partial work diasbility among the currently employed. Current smoking
also was related to a greater risk of Workers Compensation payments. These results are
consistent with both a deleterious effect of smoking on asthma status and the healthy
smoker effect.

6. Mention and explain one of the study limitation!
This study used data from a prospective cohort study of adult members of Northern California
Kaisar Permanente (KP). To establish a cohort with more severe asthma, this study recruited adults
(>18 years) after recent hospitalization for asthma. We also included KP members hospitalized
with a secondary discharge diagnosis code for asthma and a principle diagnosis code for acute
asthma related respiratory condition

7. How do you explain the topic of the research on the gross anatomy?
Asthma is a disease characterized by an excessive response of the trachea and bronchi of different
kinds of stimuli, resulting in constriction of the airways that is widespread throughout the lung and
the degree can be changed spontaneously.
