Super Rust Remover
Description
C hesterton 338 Super R ust R em over
is an outstanding acid based rust rem oval
and conditioning system for all m aterials
subject to oxide form ation including
ferrous m etals, alum inum , copper,
stainless steel and zinc.
U tilizing a proprietary blend of acids,
detergents, and conditioners, the 338
Super R ust R em over not only creeps
under and strips rust and corrosion from
parts and equipm ent, it leaves a fine rust
inhibiting film on the surface to prevent
further flash rusting.
C hesterton 338 Super R ust R em over
is excellent in the m aintenance shop for
the rem oval of rust from nuts and bolts,
bearings, pum p housings, valve interiors
and exteriors, gears, shafts - virtually any
m etal part w here m echanical rem oval of
rust is im practical or could dam age the
surface. C hesterton 338 Super R ust
R em over selectively rem oves rust and
corrosion w ithout dam aging the base
m etal. It w ill penetrate and rem ove rust
from the interior of parts that cannot be
reached by m echanical m ethods.
C hesterton 338 Super R ust R em over
can be found throughout industry in the
m aintenance shop and stockroom . It can
often be found next to solvent w ash
stations and used as part of a com plete
m etal cleaning and restoration system .
Composition
C hesterton 338 Super R ust R em over
com bines a highly concentrated acid
base w ith special m etal conditioners for
optim um cleaning and short term
protection of m etals.
The special form ula em ulsifies and
w ashes aw ay any traces of light grease

cleaning ability. Penetrants carry the
product deep into rust and scale for
m axim um effectiveness.
Inhibitors are built into the product to
protect base m etals from acid attack
after rust and scale is rem oved. These
inhibitors m inim ize any possible acid-
base m etal reaction until the acid is
flushed off and dries.
The passivating film that is left on m etal
surfaces after cleaning w ith C hesterton
338 Super R ust R em over is an absolute
key feature in the products perform ance
in paint preparation applications. The film
provides an excellent base for m ost
prim ers and paints and provides a firm
substrate for m axim um adhesion.
Applications
C hesterton 338 Super R ust R em over
can be used in any industrial, com m ercial
and m arine application w here m etal
needs to be com pletely cleaned quickly,
safely, easily and econom ically.
The product w orks especially w ell in
m etal prefinishing of vehicle bodies,
chassis, appliances, m achined parts,
m achine tool fram es, sheet m etal
w ork etc.
Safety
B efore using this product please refer
to the M aterial Safety D ata Sheet (M SD S)
or appropriate safety sheet for your area.
Dip:
C ycle 5 to 30 m inutes depending on
surface condition. Agitate if necessary.
R inse w ith w ater.
Brush:
Allow 5 to 30 m inutes for penetration.
Agitate w ith stiff bristle brush. R inse w ith
w ater. R epeat if necessary.
Food processing equipment:
Follow directions as above. Food
m aterials or packages should be
rem oved from area during cleaning of
equipm ent. R inse cleaned equipm ent
w ith potable w ater.
Directions
Add one part of the concentrated
product to three parts of w ater by
volum e. Add acid slow ly w hile m ixing.
U se acid resistant steel, earthenw are
crocks or other suitable m ixing tanks.
R em ove heavy rust by w ire brush or
other m echanical m eans. H eavy grease
should be rem oved w ith a degreasing
solvent or m echanical equipm ent
before use.
After proper dilution, apply by dip or
brush. O n clean m etal surfaces to be
prepared for painting, allow m aterial to
rem ain only long enough to w et the
surface in order to etch and leave a
phosphate deposit.
O n rusted surfaces, allow m aterial to
rem ain long enough to loosen and
rem ove the rust. Then rinse surface w ith
w ater, preferably hot, and allow to dry
thoroughly prior to application of paint or
rust preventatives.
