Without a doubt, the blood of Jesus Christ is the most precious gift our heavenly Father

has given to His church. Yet so few Christians understand its value and virtue.
Christians often sing about the power of the blood. Indeed, the anthem of the entecostal
church is, !"here is power, power, wonder#wor$ing power in the precious blood of the
%amb.! &ut most believers seldom enter into the power of that blood.
We simply do not comprehend the great significance of the blood. For e'ample( We
constantly !plead the blood! as some $ind of mystical formula of protection. &ut few
Christians can e'plain its great glory and benefits.
If I were to as$ you what the power of the blood means, you might answer, !It means that
my sins are remitted ## that I)m free from the bondage of ini*uity ## that all my sins are
covered.! Yet, beyond forgiveness, what does the blood of Jesus Christ mean to you+ Can
you e'plain to me, to your family, to a cowor$er the value and virtue of the blood of
Jesus+
I want to give you a fuller understanding of the preciousness of Jesus) blood ## and how it
can wor$ wonderful changes in your life,
-. In .cripture the &lood Is

&lood .hed and &lood .prin$led,
/ost Christians $now about the blood Jesus shed for us. When Christ lifted the cup at the
last assover, He said,
!..."his cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you! 0%u$e 11(123.
We memoriali4e His sacrifice every time we have communion. &ut that is the limit of
most Christians) $nowledge of Jesus) blood. We $now only about the blood being shed ##
and not about its being sprin$led,
"he first biblical reference to the sprin$ling of blood is in 5'odus -1(11. "he Israelites
were commanded to ta$e a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood of a slain lamb, and
sprin$le it onto the lintel and two side#posts of their front door. "hat night, when the
death angel came and saw the blood on the door posts, he would pass over the house.
lease understand ## as long as the blood was left in the basin, it was of no effect6 it was
merely blood that had been shed. "he blood had power to save only when it was lifted out
of the basin and sprin$led,
Why couldn)t the Israelites have simply laid the basin of blood at the threshold and said,
!It doesn)t matter what we do with it. 7fter all, blood is blood!+ .uppose they had put the
basin on a linen#covered table, or on a pedestal 8ust inside the door+
I)ll tell you what would have happened( "he death angel would have struc$ that home,
"he blood had to be lifted out of the basin and sprin$led on the door to fulfill its purpose
of protection.
"his blood in 5'odus -1 is a type of the blood of Christ. "he blood that flowed at
Calvary was not wasted ## it did not fall to the ground and disappear. 9o, that precious
blood was collected in a heavenly fountain.
"here is a gospel song that says, !"here is a fountain filled with blood, and sinners
plunged beneath that flow lose all their guilt and stain...! Yet this concept isn)t scriptural6
we don)t plunge into the blood or swim in it. 9o ## it is sprin$led on us,
If Christ is %ord of your life, then your door posts ## your heart ## have been sprin$led by
His blood. 7nd this sprin$ling is not for forgiveness only ## but also for protection,
When you are sprin$led, you are totally under the protection of Christ)s blood, against all
the destroying powers of .atan. When his forces see Christ)s blood on your door posts,
they must pass over you. "hey cannot touch you ## because they cannot touch anyone
sprin$led with Christ)s blood,
.o, you see, the preciousness of the blood has to do with much more than forgiveness.
Jesus) blood has not been left in the basin ## but has been lifted out and sprin$led on your
heart. 7nd it is waiting to be sprin$led on the door posts of hearts around the world,
"here is also a sprin$ling of blood mentioned in 5'odus 1:(-#--. In this passage, ;od
made a covenant agreement with Israel. He promised, !If you will obey /y words, I will
be a ;od to you, and you will be /y people.!
7fter /oses read the law to the people, they answered, !We understand ## and we will
obey.!
"hey agreed to the covenant with the %ord.
9ow, this covenant had to be sealed ## to be ratified and made valid ## and that could
happen only through the sprin$ling of the blood upon it. Hebrews tells us /oses !...too$
the blood ...and sprin$led both the boo$, and all the people...! 0Hebrews <(-<3.
"he shed blood of the burnt offerings was contained in a basin. /oses too$ some of this
blood and poured part of it by the altar. "hen he too$ a hyssop, dipped it in the basin and
sprin$led some of the blood on the twelve pillars 0representing the twelve tribes of
Israel3. Finally, /oses dipped the hyssop into the basin and sprin$led the blood on the
people. "his blood covering the people, sealed the covenant,
It is clear from the passage that the sprin$ling of the blood gave the Israelites full access
to ;od, with 8oy. =n this occasion it had nothing to do with forgiveness and remission of
sin ## but, rather, with communion. "hey were now sanctified, cleansed ## fit to be in
;od)s presence.
"hen /oses, 9adab, 7bihu and the seventy elders went up to the mountain to meet ;od.
7nd the %ord appeared to them, coming down a sapphire#stone wal$. "hese men saw a
table spread before them ## and .cripture infers that with ease, comfort and no fear of
8udgment, they sat in ;od)s presence and ate and dran$ with Him(
!7nd upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand( also they saw ;od,
and did eat and drin$! 05'odus 1:(--3.
"his is simply ama4ing, "hese men could eat and drin$ in the very presence of ;od ##
whereas shortly before, they had feared for their lives. It was because the blood had been
sprin$led ## and they understood the safety, the power, the security in that. "hey didn)t
fear,
&eloved, today we are in a new covenant with Jesus Christ ## a covenant sealed by His
own blood. 7nd li$ewise today, when His precious blood is sprin$led on your soul, it is
for purposes of communion. It is so that you can go boldly ## with ease, without fear of
8udgment ## into ;od)s presence for communion. You are given access to Him, with no
sin condemning you. You are free to tal$ to ;od and en8oy His company,
=ne of the most important sprin$lings of blood was done by the high priest. =nce each
year he went into the Holy of Holies to ma$e atonement, which means !reconcilation.!
"his act was meant to wipe away the people)s sins, so they could be reconciled and have
communion again with the heavenly Father.
"he priest would carry into the Holy of Holies a handful of incense, a censer of burning
coals of fire from the altar, and a container of blood from a slain o'. Within the Holy of
Holies was an ar$, on top of which sat a flat, golden top with a lip around it. "his was the
mercy seat, where ;od !sat!6 it was His very presence. "he mercy seat had two golden
cherubim on either side, with wings spread over the seat.
7fter cleansing himself in an elaborate ceremony, the priest went inside the Holy of
holies with great reverence and fear. He dropped the incense into the fire, causing an
aroma and smo$e to ascend. 0"his represented the prayers of Christ, interceding for His
people. Jesus ever sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for the saints.3
"hen the priest dipped his finger into the blood and sprin$led it seven times on the mercy
seat(
!7nd he shall ta$e of the blood of the bulloc$, and sprin$le it with his finger upon the
mercy seat eastward6 and before the mercy seat shall he sprin$le of the blood with his
finger seven times! 0%eviticus ->(-:3.
When the blood was sprin$led on ;od)s seat, forgiveness of all sins was accomplished,
and all past sins were covered. When the high priest came out, the people $new ;od had
accepted the sacrifice, and their sins were pardoned. Israel never doubted it,
&eloved, we too have a high priest ## Jesus, our %ord. 7nd He is our High riest not 8ust
once a year, but for all time ## to the end of the world, Jesus too$ His own blood to the
true mercy seat ## into ;od)s presence, the Holy of Holies ## and presented it for the
remission of all sins, of all believers, of all time. It was a final sprin$ling,
.criptures says of this act(
!9either by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into
the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us! 0Hebrews <(-13.
!How much more shall the blood of Christ...purge your conscience from dead wor$s to
serve the living ;od+! 0verse -:3.
!...now to appear in the presence of ;od for us! 0Hebrews <(1:3.
Jesus too$ His own blood into heaven for us, 7nd it isn)t reserved there simply as a
memorial. It is to be sprin$led on all who come to Him by faith,
1. How Is the &lood of Jesus
.prin$led ?pon the Heart+
It is tragic that so many believers do not en8oy the power and virtue of the blood of Jesus.
.cripture ma$es it clear ## it is important for us to $now how the blood has been sprin$led
on our hearts. "his is done in two ways(
"he blood is sprin$led on us by the .pirit of Christ, who dwells in us.
Jesus sprin$les His own blood on us when, by faith, we receive His finished wor$ at
Calvary. "his isn)t a physical sprin$ling6 rather, it is a legal, spiritual transaction. He
sprin$les the blood on our hearts in response to our faith. 7nd until we truly believe in the
power of His sacrifice at Calvary, the blood of Jesus cannot produce any effect upon our
souls,
!Whom ;od hath set forth to be a propitiation @a reconciliationA through faith in his
blood...! 0Bomans C(1D3.
Churches around the world parta$e of communion regularly. Yet, aul warns us not to
!drin$ @the cupA unworthily.! "his doesn)t mean merely parta$ing of a communion service
after we)ve failed in some way6 we $now that if we repent of our sin, Jesus will forgive us
and cleanse us of all ini*uity.
9o ## I believe aul is saying we are to discern Christ)s body properly. He)s tal$ing about
coming to the %ord)s table, drin$ing of the cup symbolic of His blood ## and yet not
believing in the power of that blood, It has to do with sitting in condemnation and fear ##
not believing that Christ)s blood has 8ustified and sanctified us in ;od)s sight.
/any believers are condemned out of the wonderful e'perience of the %ord)s table,
because they do not come to the blood in faith. aul is saying, !9o wonder so many are
sic$ly among you. You are left wea$ because you do not believe in the total victory of
Christ)s blood,!
.uch Christians are saying, in essence, !I $now it)s wonderful to be 8ustified through the
blood of Jesus Christ. &ut I still have trouble believing the %ord rec$ons me righteous.
7fter all, I still haven)t arrived. I still struggle.!
&eloved, the truest evidence of faith is rest, If you believe with all your heart, it brings
your conscience and soul into rest. 7nd when you come to the %ord)s supper and parta$e
of the cup, you can say, !I believe I am saved, forgiven, healed, because I believe in the
blood. I trust in it,!
"he blood of Jesus is sprin$led on our soul through Holy ;host preaching.
When you hear Christ and His blood being e'alted in Holy ;host preaching, you can
$now the blood is being sprin$led,
When hilip preached the gospel to the eunuch, that man)s heart was ravished by the
Word. Immediately, he begged to be bapti4ed. hilip said to him, !...If thou believest with

7t this point, you may be wondering, !How can I $now whether the blood has been
applied to my heart+! Here are three ways you can $now if you have been sprin$led by
the blood(
If you are now willing to wal$ in the light and allow the Holy ;host to e'pose all
dar$ness in you, you can $now you)ve been sprin$led.

If you call on the power and authority of Christ)s blood when you)re under enemy attac$,
you can $now you)ve been sprin$led.
When those who have not been sprin$led are in trouble, they call their best friend or a
counselor, or they wallow in fear and condemnation. &ut those sprin$led with blood
immediately stand on Jesus) blood,
We often hear the phrase !pleading the blood! used in Christian circles. &ut that is not a
.criptural term. "he word plead here means !argument!6 it suggests begging, beseeching.
7nd that is a defensive mode.
I believe our attitude must be stronger than that. We are warriors ## blood#bought, blood#
saved, more than con*uerors through Jesus Christ, We are not in a courtroom with the
devil, pleading a case. 9o ## we are victors, Jesus has won the victory for us6 His blood
has prevailed. 7nd I believe our battle cry should be, !I proclaim the victory of the blood
of Jesus, I am blood#washed, blood#bought, blood#8ustified, blood# safe, blood#ransomed.
7nd I proclaim the victory of the blood of Jesus,!
When you are so secure in the cleansing, 8ustifying power of the blood that your
conscience no longer condemns you, you can $now you)ve been sprin$led.
Your conscience does an evil wor$ when it does not wa$e you or stir you to obedience to
the gospel. It does evil when it unnecessarily condemns you, accuses you, constantly
reminds you of how you failed ;od, causes depression and fear.
&ut when you fully rest in the cleansing, 8ustifying power of the blood of Jesus ## when
you ta$e command of your conscience in the .pirit ## your conscience is no longer an
accuser, but, rather, does its wor$ properly. When the devil rises up with an evil
accusation, your conscience proclaims the victory of the blood,
