INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

1. The candidate is required to fill in the Proforma enclosed to the application form
invariably, giving full details of his/her academic record, etc. If the space provided in the
application for the qualifications to be furnished in respect of each column is not
sufficient, a separate sheet may be attached and the information noted marking the column
number against it.

2. Separate Application should be submitted for each post.

3. Attested True Copies of all the testimonials, Educational qualifications, Date of Birth,
Caste, Experience, etc., should be enclosed. The original certificates should be produced
at the time of interview and at the time of joining, if selected.

4. (a) Applications from the candidates who are employed should be sent through proper
channel accompanied with a letter of consent obtained from the Employer
concerned.

(b) Teachers actually in the employment of the University shall apply through proper
channel to the post advertised by the University, if they wish to be considered.

(c) If the applicant is selected for the post he/she will be appointed to the post on the
minimum pay of the time scale attached to the post and no protection of last pay
drawn in the previous employment will be given unless the Selection Committee
which selects him/her specifically recommends such protection and the appointing
authority accepts it.

5. Canvassing in any shape or form will be construed as an absolute disqualification.

6. If the authorities decide to interview the candidate, he/she should arrange to be present at
the place fixed on the date and time specified at his/her own expenses. The summoning of
a candidate for interview conveys no assurances whatsoever that he/she will be selected or

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
GROUP I: ARTS

Candidates are advised to read the instructions carefully before filling up the application form and
dispatching it.
The minimum qualifications required for appointment in the University as laid down by the
UGC (approved by the Government in G.O.Ms.No.14 Higher Education (UE.II) Dept. dated
20.02.2010 and contained in the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of
Teachers And Other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance
of Standards in Higher Education, 2010 vide letter No. F. 3-1/2009 dated 30.06.2010) for the posts
of Assistant Professors are given below. The candidates shall satisfy these requirements, in addition
to the other requirements and desirable qualifications mentioned below, for consideration of their
applications.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
i. Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks
(or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the
Masters Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent
degree from an accredited foreign university.
ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited
by the UGC like SLET/SET.
iii. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) above, candidates, who
are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants
Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree)
Regulations,2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility
condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or
equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
iv. NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in
disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

NOTE:
A relaxation of 5% may be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks at the graduate and
master's level for the SC / ST / Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-
abled) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record
during direct recruitment to teaching positions.
A) Relaxation of 5% may be provided from 55% to 50% of marks to Ph.D. degree holders,
who passed their Masters degree examination prior to 19
th
September, 1991.
B) In 7 point scale with letter grade O, A, B, C, D, E & F shall be regarded as equivalent of
55% wherever the grading system is followed.
In addition to the above General Qualifications, the following are the specializations,
qualifications, and specific requirements for the posts mentioned below.

ADULT EDUCATION: Masters Degree and Ph. D in Adult education

ANCIENT INDIAN HISTORY, CULTURE AND ARCHAEOLOGY: Masters degree and Ph.D
in Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology/ History and Archeology/ Indian culture;
Knowledge in the field of Archeology/Art and Architecture/ Epigraphy/ Numismatics/Tourism/
Museology is desirable




ARABIC, PERSIAN AND URDU: Masters Degree and Ph. D in Arabic, Persian and Urdu;
Knowledge in Poetry(Special Reference to South India) is desirable.

AREA STUDIES PROGRAMME: Masters Degree and Ph. D in South East Asian History/
Vietnamese language/Geography/ Economics/Sociology/ Social Anthropology.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT: Masters Degree and Ph. D in Business Management; Knowledge
in the fields of Quantitative Techniques/Statistics/Operations research is desirable.

EDUCATION: Masters degree in Arts/Humanities/Sciences/Commerce and M.Ed with Ph. D in
Education or M.A. (Education) with B. Ed and Ph. D in Education.

ENGLISH: Masters Degree and Ph.D. in English literature/Language

FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LINGUISTICS: Masters Degree and Ph.D. in Linguistics /
languages

HINDI: Masters Degree and Ph. D in Hindi; Knowledge in Comparative studies in Hindi and
Telugu literature/ Modern Hindi literature/ Medieval Hindi literature/Functional Hindi and
translation

HISTORY: Masters degree and Ph. D. in History; Knowledge in Modern History desirable

LAW: Masters Degree (LLM/ ML) and Ph.D. in Law

LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE: Master Degree and Ph.D in Library and
Information Science

PHILOSOPHY: Masters Degree and Ph. D in Philosophy; Knowledge in Classical,
Contemporary, Greek, Medieval, Modern Western, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Peace /
Education and Comparative religion

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: (Assistant Director):Masters degree in Physical Education / Sports
Sciences and Ph.D. in Physical Education.

POLITICAL SCIENCE AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION: Masters Degree and Ph.D. in
Political Science and Public Administration; Knowledge in Local Self Government.

POPULATION STUDIES: Masters Degree and Ph.D. in Population Studies/Demography/social
Work or Sociology; Knowledge in Population Studies and Demography is desirable

SANSKRIT: Masters Degree and Ph.D. in Sanskrit; Knowledge in Sahitya / Vyakarana / Nyaya
Vaiseshika is desirable.

SOCIOLOGY: Masters Degree and Ph. D in Sociology

TAMIL: Masters Degree and Ph.D. in Tamil; Knowledge in Modern, Folk and Comparative
Literature.

TELUGU: Master Degree and Ph.D. in Telugu; Knowledge in Sanskrit, Classical, Modern
literature, Folklore and Telugu language.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
1. A copy of the Advertisement is displayed on the website.
2. Separate application shall be submitted for each post along with registration fee prescribed as
per the Notification / Prospectus. Registration fee once paid will not be refunded.
3. If the space provided in any column of the application is not sufficient for furnish full details
relating to that column, a separate sheet may be attached mentioning the head of the column at
the top of sheet.
4. Attested True copies of all the testimonials, details of educational qualifications, Date of Birth
Certificate, Caste Certificate, Experience Certificate etc, shall be enclosed to the application.
All the Original certificates shall be compulsorily produced at the time of the interview for
verification and also at the time of joining, if selected.
5. Indian Postal Orders/Bank Challans and Money orders will not be accepted. The University
not responsible for any postal delay and lost while in transit.
6. Candidates belonging to SC / ST / BC categories shall enclose attested true copies of Integrated
Permanent Caste Certificate issued by the M.R.O. / Tahsildar in the prescribed proforma.
Candidates from other categories should enclose certificates issued by the competent
authorities, failing which their claims will not be considered.
7. (a) Applicants who are employed shall send their applications through proper channel
accompanied by a letter of consent obtained from the employer concerned.
(b) Teachers in the employment of the Universities etc., shall apply through proper channel.
(c) If the applicant is selected for the post, he / she will be appointed to the post on the
minimum pay of the time scale attached to the post and no protection of last pay drawn in
the previous employment will be given unless the Selection Committee which selects him
/ her specifically recommends such protection and the appointing authority accepts it.
8. Experience and qualifications will be reckoned as on the last date prescribed for the submission
of filled in applications to the University. Good and clear photocopies of all certificates must
be attached to the application.
9. Canvassing in any form will be construed as a disqualification.
10. Applications received after the due date or incomplete or not conforming of the prescribed
format in any respect will not be considered and no communication will be entertained in this
regard. Any postal delay will not be considered.
11. The candidate shall attend the interview at the venue and time & date fixed as specified at his /
her own expense.
12. A candidate who is found to have furnished false particulars or to have suppressed material
information or to have been found involved in unlawful activities shall be disqualified and if
appointed, will be liable to be dismissed without any notice.
13. If any candidate was found convicted by a Court of Law involving illegal activities at a later
date and such appointment shall be cancelled automatically without any notice.
14. The Selected candidates will be governed by Contributory Pension Scheme made applicable
to all the new appointed candidates, as per G.O.Ms.No. 653, 654 & 655, Finance (Pen)
Department, dated 22.09.2004. However Revised Pension Rules for the University Teachers,
1992 as per G.O.Ms.No. 276, Education (UE-I) Department, dated 02.12.1993 and
G.O.Ms.No. 227, Education (UE-I) Department, dated 02.12.1993 shall be made applicable for
those who are in service governed by Revised Pension Rules for the University Teachers, 1992
with amendments made thereof.
15. The University reserves to itself the right to increase or decrease the number of posts to
fill or not to fill any or all the notified posts.

Mode of Interview for Candidates Applying from Abroad
If found qualified to be called for the interview, candidates from abroad will be informed
about the date and time of the interview at short notice. They must attend the Interview in person at
the designated place in India as per the requirements of the Interview Call Letter at their own cost
sent to them by e-mail, failing which they will not be considered for the post for which they have
applied.
