Performance Opportunities

* Master Class Series: The PIMF Master Class Series, featuring members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, offers a very
special opportunity for participants to play for some of the most outstanding musicians in the world of classical music.
Students selected through the recorded audition process will perform for Philadelphia Orchestra members, who will offer
musical advice and inspiration before an audience of festival campers, family members, and special guests. Participants
and audience members alike will benefit from these public mini lessons! Separate classes will be held for violin, viola,
cello, bass, winds, brass, piano, and harp. Students selected to perform in a Master Class will be notified prior to camp.
Please come prepared to play selected piece or pieces (with accompaniment if appropriate).

* Chamber Music Recital: Chamber Music Program Participants will be given an opportunity to perform at one of two
informal Chamber Music Recitals, tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 28, at 7:00 p.m. All chamber groups with
performance-ready repertoire will perform.

* Solo Performance Hours (Two Opportunities to Perform): Students electing to participate in the Solo Performance
Hours should come prepared to play a polished, performance-ready piece of choice by memory (unless performing a
sonata). It is permissible for performers to play in the Solo Performance Hour the same piece they are preparing for the
Concerto Competition. Not all performers registering for the Solo Performance Hours will be selected to participate.
Please note that faculty accompanist and/or other Philadelphia International Music Festival faculty member will determine
at the conclusion of scheduled Solo Performance Hour rehearsals which musicians are/are not eligible to perform. As all
Solo Performance Hour selections will be performed with piano accompaniment, please be sure to practice with an
accompanist before the festival and bring sheet music for the PIMF faculty accompanist to camp registration on Saturday,
June 16. Students wishing to perform in the Solo Performance Hours must complete the enclosed Solo Performance Hour
Registration Form, to be returned to our office via post no later than April 15.

electing to participate must perform by memory. There will be no exceptions. Please come prepared with a performance
ready concerto, as accompaniment rehearsals may take place as early as Sunday, June 17. Please note that rehearsal with
faculty accompanist will constitute preliminary competition round. The Grand Prize winner will perform as soloist with the
Ocean City Pops Orchestra or a Philadelphia-area orchestra. All festival students are eligible. See enclosed Concerto
Competition Rules for details and requirements. Students wishing to participate must complete the enclosed Concerto
Competition Registration Form, to be returned to our office via post no later than April 15.

or third movement (second violin part) of the Bach Double Violin Concerto. One winner will be chosen for each
movement. Cello students must perform by memory the first movement of the Vivaldi Concerto in B Flat Major F.IV,
n.2 for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra. Students wishing to participate in this competition must complete the enclosed

SELF EVALUATION FORM
(To be completed by all PIMF Participants)

Some Good Advice for filling out this self-evaluation: Answer as accurately as you can! This is not a resume,
and we are not looking to be impressed. We will use this form to help place you in appropriate groups, so it is
to your best advantage to answer well.

Guidelines for the numbering (see below):

1 = Least Strong. Meaning: perhaps all you did was read through the piece. You may have a very basic
familiarity with it, but not much more that that. This is perfectly fine! There is value in this and EVERYONE
has done it before.

10 = Concert Ready. Meaning: as close to perfection as you can attain. Nobody is perfect, but this is your
absolute highest standard. If you have done this with only piece, great!

One last thing: have fun! We think this is a great opportunity for you to see what you have accomplished in
the past.
